BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
In 15 years when you’re still laying that mother down, it’s a bargain.

If I'm going to drop 65k on a truck, it's not going to be a midsize Tacoma. I love my Taco, but it's not a 65k truck (off the lot). Obviously you can easily invest well over 65k in a build. But 65k before any addons? That's a hard pass imo.

And the hybrids are going to be even more $$$.

Only regret I have about my zr2 is that I should have gotten the v-6 and not the diesel. I have been having a lot of problems with the def system.

Hopefully market forces, aka people refusing to pay that much for a midsize truck, will bring that price down.

65k plus taxes? Bonkers to spend that kind of money on a Taco. I got my ‘18 OR full loaded with the whole tech package for 36k out the door. I know times and inflation have changed, but not that much

Well.. you must not be a good friend, because they say that good friends don’t let their friend drive Fords..

I think you are right, specially for older model Toyotas. Toyota quality has been going down the hill for years..

In theory it will behave exactly like the non-hybrid as the rest of the drivetrain is the same. The battery is only 1.9kwh which is tiny and very fast to recharge. Assuming it has regenerative braking like most hybrids/EVs every time you let off the gas and coast down in speed it will recharge itself.

Maybe people think the battery is draining 100% of the time? It only powers the EV assist motor when needed. If it is depleted the gas engine will take over. Even without the EV motor assist it's got lots of power. I see no issues. If you always need all that power 100% of the time that's a heavy foot in need of a driving habit change.

When i searched this Bing brought up this. I just am not aware of the source...

"When the i-Force MAX hybrid battery in a Toyota 4Runner runs out of charge, several things occur:

    1. Reduced Electric Power: The electric motor, which draws power from the hybrid battery, will no longer be able to provide assistance. As a result, the vehicle will rely solely on its internal combustion engine for propulsion.
    2. Gasoline Engine Takes Over: The 4Runner’s gasoline engine (a 2.4-liter turbocharged I-4 in the case of the i-Force MAX) will continue to operate, but without the electric boost. This means the vehicle’s performance may be affected, especially during acceleration.
    3. Recharging Mechanism: The computer system will engage the gasoline engine to recharge the hybrid battery. Essentially, the engine acts as a generator to replenish the battery’s charge. So, even when the battery is low, it’s always being charged to some extent1.
    4. Repair Options: If the battery becomes faulty or dies completely, it’s not a lost cause. Technicians can repair it by identifying and replacing the bad cells. The repair process typically costs around $800 and often comes with a 1-3 year warranty2.
In summary, while the i-Force MAX hybrid system won’t function optimally without a charged battery, the gasoline engine ensures that the vehicle remains operational even when the battery is depleted".

Called 45k and 80K a while back. Spot on with the 45K, and I believe the Pro’s when it’s all said and done with adjustments/dealer adding crap, will be $80,000 out the door…Fuuuuuuuck.

Don't buy it. There are 8 other trim models to choose from.

Seems a little extreme and emotionally charged, unless you're just trolling. Sounds like the SR is the trim for you then my friend.

Perhaps you should look a little deeper to discover that I already have a 21 Pro and that this is about Toyota NOT listening to its customers.

Then I'd imagine that they are in fact listening to customers (just like you!) who are willing to overpay for a midsize truck:thumbsup:

Can't stay competitive with Ford and GM unless you include more creature comforts. Just the way it is.

They seemed to have over delivered with power and other features compared to previous models. Is it expensive, hell yeh. Do you pay a premium for a top quality product, hell yeh.
