If it is the Scranton pa Toyota dealer I spoke with they are marking them up. Not sure what is was when I spoke with them. Everyone has all different mark ups.

When I bought my Pro they started at $5k markup. I was able to get them down to $2700 markup. I put the deposit down over the phone and picked it up after the weekend.
They still had the truck on their web page and were getting offers up to $10k over sticker for it...

LOL, my surname is Shipman (honest!); when I was in the Marines my CO called me "Boatperson" because he didn't want to sound sexist, and this was in the 1970s.

Fast forward to 2014 when my son went into the Navy, he grew up as a salty SOB and that carried through to being in the Navy, his Chief at RTC constantly picked on him during training, but when he had his final interview with her upon graduation she said, "Don't lose your attitude or your sense of humor, you're going to go far in the Navy." He ended up as an AD2 working on the GE-414 engine for the F-18 Super Hornets and he was virtually always covered in grease and jet fuel, and other than a few occasions where he had to put on a dress uniform, he looked grungy as hell; to add to it, he is heavily bearded and suffers from ingrown whiskers, so much so he had a "No-Shave Chit" for most of his 4-year stint. Imagine a young unshaven airman walking around NAS Lemoore, covered in jet fuel; yeah, he attracted a lot of negative attention from Chiefs and Officers alike; often times when they would start berating him for his appearance, the moment he'd get a chance to say something he'd start with, "Yes, and Shipman really is my name." Half the time the person cussing him out would need to turn around and walk away so he wouldn't see them laughing.

If your in AZ avondale toyota has some 2023 Tacomas available at msrp they only sell msrp no markups and no add ons. First time in a few years I have seen available inventory. This matches up to what another dealer told me last month when I asked what's the market look like? He told me Tacoma's will be flooding lots and prices will be coming down especially on the trade ins (so expect less on trade). He's the buyer at the dealership so he would know.

Not all there are a few you need top scroll thru. Chances are that others will back out and you can get your name on the list. Pros no they never go under msrp even before the pandemic. Theres a huge wait for pros at avondale and you wouldn't get one before 2024 when they will be over 60k msrp.

Boatpers, that is awesome! I'm sure your son caught hell for that no shave chit. I ran accross my CC from boot camp about 10 years after getting out to let him know what a piece of shit he was and before I could go off on him he apologized for being a shit head. He told me he was an alcoholic (which we knew) and was having marital problems and on and on. He begged me for forgiveness and hoped that he didn't ruin my career. I was ready to unload on him, but couldn't after all that and said that I accept his apology. He was over the top with gratitude. A few days later I started thinking that the piece of shit got me again, should have went off on him, but figured he is a miserable piece of shit and not worth my time.

New car prices will only go up. Ford announced yesterday a billion dollars extra in supply costs, which tanked the stock 15%. It will be the same for every manufacturer so the new 2024 Tacoma look for significant price increase. This is good for those already with a Tacoma as prices for used will rise. But I agree never buy a new build house during these crazy time they are garbage, same with most everything else.

A little side note on dealer markups. Its always been difficult to get a good deal on a Corvette, especially the first few years on a new model. Usually $3k-$5k and then tapers off to 1K or MSPR after a couple of years. With the insane demand for the 2020 C8 they started charging $30K over MSRP across the board (and even more in some states). I had purchased 3 Corvettes and 1 pickup from my local chevy dealer over the course of 20 years. When I went to talk to them...they said they markup was $20K and if I didn't put money down today, there was only 2 order slots left...they it would be $30K over in a couple of days. I mentioned my history with the dealership, he said he didn't care and neither did the General Manager. So him to go F himself and I was never coming back to this dealership.
After digging around, it turns out 65% of all corvettes including the new C8 are sold by the top 5 dealerships that specialize in selling out of state and making it easy for you to get the car at MSRP with no BS. GM rewards dealerships that sell more of their high demand cars, they give them more allocations for that particular car. The more corvettes you sell this year, they more you will be allocated next year. My local Chevy dealership was only allocated 17 corvettes a year (that is all they get). The Chevy dealership went with ended up ordering from, sells over 1,000 a year, that is 17 Corvettes a day! So not only was I guaranteed to get the exact car I wanted, I would get it "faster" and at MSRP. So I put down a $2K deposit and 9 months later it was delivered to a Chevy dealership in my area. I did have to pay for it before it shipped and had to do my own TTL on the day it arrived (a small hassle for paying MSRP). GM has a pretty cool ordering system, so you can track the status of your car throughout the process on the internet, and then its exact location once its built through On Star.

I wish there was a toyota dealership like this! We would all have Pros at MSRP.

So my local greedy dealer will never get another dollar from me an I got my car at MSRP.

So fast forward the demand for the Z06 is even more insane with some dealership charging $90K Market Adjustment. GM stepped in and basically said they reserve the right to terminate the dealership agreement if any dealership it tarnishing the brand with excessive mark ups. The dealerships backed off on the ultra high mark ups. I wish toyota would something similar, but since it is such a narrow/specific vehicle, Toyota probably loves the hype it is bringing with the Pros & candy colors everyone wants.

A friend works at the local Toyota dealership and he says everyday people are paying $10K over for a new Tundra. They will negotiate on the Tundra if you push back, but they will take all the suckers money first.

Good Luck to All in finding MSRP or getting through the wait for the Tacoma you want.

Be willing to walk away without a new truck or pay more than one should for what you are getting. Good luck.

That’s why I’m not dealing with GM’s nonsense with the C8Z06. They have a lot of customers pissed off because what they are doing and building only so many. I bought 19 Z06 brand new. It’s a beast and it’s the last of the manual. I have so many friends tell me not to sell my C7. The last year. Also I could sell it for more than I paid. Not happening.
