TRD Pro Badge on Non-TRD Pro

Am I the only one that hates badges? First thing I do when I get home is remove every badge and throw away the dealership license plate frames. Even on my Prius, I remove all that crap. Bedside stickers too. Less is more.

 

I removed my bedside stickers, but I don't go as far as removing the raised badging. That's a lot of extra work

 

Me previous Tacomas, I kept the bedside sticker and removed the rest.

 

While I don’t care what people do to their trucks, I will point out that the act of adding a pro grill, wheels or any other such equipment that has an actual performance or perceived aesthetic benefit is different than adding a pro badge.

Adding a pro badge seems to be done in a conscious effort to convince others you have a pro.

I see a truck with pro wheels or a grill and my first thought is the owner just likes the way they look. I see a truck with pro badges and my first thought is that the owner is trying to trick other people (or even himself) into believing he bought a pro. Big difference.

 

At what point do you accept the truck is actually a Pro?

 

There are plenty of ways to 'elevate' the look of a Tacoma.
You don't need 'Pro' badges to make it look cool.
Nuff said.

Stolen valor in my opinion. Put a pro grill on, no problem, put a pro suspension on no problem, but it isn't a pro so call it what it is. An OR with some cool mods.

 

TRD Sport, TRD Off Road, TRD Pro VINs will come back as an SR5. Because that's what they are, an SR5 with an option package.

 

They obviously register differently because there was a time, if not still, where you need a "pro vin" to get certain pro-exclusive parts.

 

Because people are vain posers and care more about what others think about them than just enjoying their truck

 

Not accurate, Registration and delineation are separate identities. i.e all Pros are SR5s but not all SR5s are Pros

 

Just saw this one. Homie claiming his SR5 AC is a Sport?!

 

Let it go Man, people are going to do as they please and may not know any better. All we can do is educate and work with the challenged.

 

I believe Scott’s picture and call-out is simply a PSA to remind some of us who may purchase another truck in the future to not fall victim to fraud and do your due diligence. Nothing wrong with friendly reminders.

 

Yea I just hope people research and are educated before they purchase used. Look up the VIN and know what the codes mean.
