the URD and Core are entirely different. the URD was an effective SS regarding quicker shifts due to shorter throw. but the Core has actually slowed down shifts for a simple reason. when i shifted 2 to 3 on the URD it's a diagonal line to target gear. but with the Core i literally go: forward & release, sideways & release, forward into 3rd & release. it's so mechanical that the linkage tells me what to do and i like that and don't fight it, so i had to totally change how i handle the shifting.

that's the Core arm, a coupling nut, a threaded rod, and two locking nuts to hold it together. the Delrin-Ti knob is a custom design and is long so doesn't need an extension.

Maybe its just me but i think the trd exhaust is not worth the money. I was lucky enough to buy my truck with the trd exhaust already installed, it wasn't bad or good. It was acceptable but I wouldn't pay $600 for it. Instead i bought a flowmaster muffler for $60 and it sounds way better. Not too loud or quite. Just the right amount of growl without sounding like a rattle box

If you've got a long knob you've got to grab it by more than just the tip, man. Like you said base of the knob always always feels great!

It might be a little while before I can get to it. Have some pinched nerves in my neck and can't crawl under there comfortably.

the core shifter is superior to the urd one. you make up for it in price. with core youre changing the entire shift assembly in place of hurst mechanicals. i actually went a step further and changed out the supplied shifter with a different hurst shifter. my throws are very quick and very short now. im also running a 450g custom perrin performance shift knob. i wouldve gone with twm performance because their knobs are simply the phenomenal, unfortunately they are no longer around. the perrin though is an excellent choice and i dont have any qualms about it. my setup is very weighty and notchy, but at the same time very positive feel every time you shift. ive owned trd, urd, and core. core is at the top. coupes (xru user who put his own spin on short throw shifters) custom made trd is something to get a hold of but i havent seen him in a very long time and last i saw his work was 2nd gen stuff.

since this was off topic, i just wanted to reply in response to the core stuff, i did go head and purchase the 2020 trd pro exhaust (black trd tip) today along with the urd ypipe. shipping was an effing killer. buy once, cry once though. im used to running on the louder side of the exhaust spectrum and i know trds are not know to be very loud. im hoping the urd ypipe will add a different dynamic to the exhaust tone. a ran that in my old taco with fm super 44s and gadamn it sounded too sweet; hoping for here too. well see.

Anyone know if they make a black-tip TRD cat-back for a 2018 OR DCSB? I see P/N PTR0335190, but the dealers claim it doesn't fit 2018.

basically gets rid of the rear two cats. makes your cat back exhaust more audible as well. supposedly its supposed to make your pick up when you rev more freely. thats probably debatable. for me it was more that i had prior experience with urds ypipe on my xrunner and it made my exhaust sound wicked. for this truck im hoping it makes the trd more lively. i heard from more than a few sources that it sounds good but its still rather soft.

For black tip I'd recommend putting a coat of a good ceramic wax on it for protection against pitting and scratching. My buddy's black tip looks like crap after about 9 months. My stainless still looks like new.
I'm really please with the sound of mine, has a nice deep HP tone and gives the illusion of more power even though it doesn't. You'll love it.

Ceramic coating is going to burn off. Nothing is going to really protect it because it's just a crappy finish. I have seen it happen two times and Toyota replaced it the first go around. That's why I went with the stainless tip. Ceramic costing is great for paint but heat breaks it down.

Ceramic coating is not going to burn off, that is literally what it is designed for.

Have fun with that. Might wanna look a little more into it. A powder coating/ ceramic coating finish that's sprayed on is one way but if your thinking the ceramic coating like the products for your paints finish wont last.
