So sorry OP, not to bash here, but this is far from the first transmission issue on the new gen. Waiting for the "its only a handful and 3rd gens had problems too rhetoric". Hope for many more trouble free miles.

Yeah, it was my biggest fear in getting the truck tbh. But hey it comes with being one of the first, so it is what it is. Still love the thing.

Small Update: Parts ETA is August 8th -21st. Service Director is working on getting the situation escalated with Toyota to expedite but we shall see.

That's the risk we all took for buying the 2024. I thought it was mostly manuals that had the problems though.

I had a seen a couple of posts about the Auto, but yeah mainly manuals for now. Like I mentioned, Toyota was just being safe in going with a full replacement, I'm sure they could've swapped the solenoid and called it good, but doubt they wanted to risk it happening again.

I feel like the Pros only hit the lots a few weeks ago...You would think they had transmission bugs figured by now..Of it was a Chev or Ford I would think it would be a bare minimum fix

Seen more auto posts on the other forum than manual, mostly bad solenoids and guys losing gears, one with shavings all in the pan early. Biggest thing I've seen is the cracked evap which I'm betting will end up being a TSB.

Its bad parts, not a software issue and its still a small enough percentage not 100% Toyota has been able to address or thinks its widespread enough or maybe they are already in the works with addressing.

Never seen breakin requirements for a transmission. Brakes yes, varying rpm for proper ring seating yes, differentials yes.

Just wondering about the hybrid. Not many here have a 4th gen with it. Is there extra torque applied to the tranny because the electric motor runs its power through the drive train? Could that cause it to go out?

I appreciate it! Definitely a lengthy one for the 1st one but I am happy to share the experience. I was definitely feeling a different type of way the day it happened but all I can do is roll with it, and know that everything is getting fixed. No sense in being mad about it now, so far they have taken care of me.

So can you run us through what happened after you dropped off your truck on the weekend in so cal?
Did the dealer pay for flight? I.e they booked it for you? Or are you booking everything and having them reimburse you ?
How are you going to pick the truck up? They are paying again to send you to SoCal ? How about from airport to dealership etc ?

Ouch that sucks. Glad to hear the dealer you bought from is going above and beyond to help you out.

I could have sworn I read something in the owners manual about not using cruise control for the first X miles, but mine was a 2023.

I think my count is less than 15 for both MT and AT....so maybe quadruple that to 60 for a real number to count the ones that don't post?

Would be helpful if people also submitted a NHTSA complaint. Loss of power due to a transmission error or failure is absolutely a safety problem.
