My smart ass reply would be “windex”.

Is the garnish OEM? Do you have pics?

Sounds like you got a knock off garnish, which has caused error problems for others.

Did you get both items from the dealer? Purchased my grill from the taco garage and garnish direct from dealer and everything worked fine.

I’m not sure if they do come in boxes because the only ones I seen is in the paper wrap, I work in a warehouse that supplies toyota parts.

It's fake. Get your money back then buy the real one. Problem solved.

I had the same issue when I replaced my whole front grille and sensor. I kept getting the "clean sensor" so I tried "resetting" the sensor.

I disconnected the sensor from the truck for about 30 mins or so, along with the battery from all the electronics for another 30 mins (totaling 1hr)

You probably don't need to do it that long.

Also right before plugging back into the battery I tried to power the truck on with the battery disconnected so it can drain any excess charge that could be within the trucks electrical system, ie capacitors, chips, etc.

As soon as I plugged everything back in everything just worked like new.

Note, I unplugged all the electronics WHILE THE SENSOR AND GRILL WERE ALREADY INSTALLED COMPLETELY.

I'm guessing that after the reset happened everything recalibrated and the sensor was taking into account the new cover that was installed.

Have you had the sensor recall/recalibration done yet? I have a faux pro grille with OEM garnish. They performed the recall with no issues.

As a side note, I never received any errors after install of the grille.

His problem is not the faux grille but the fake garnish.
