I did Logistics for my 25-year USAF active duty career and remember the nomenclature: RADOME.

Depending on the aircraft and the radar system used determined the size of a radome.

The C-130 nose section was one of the bigger radomes we had to put on a skid and send off to Depot under DIFM* processes.

So the outer portion of the garnish is where the special material allows the microwaves to transmit/receive in both directions. (concept)

You provided info that sparked my memory about Radomes...and you've also identified future advances in technology using this system. (radar systems)

I’ve got a 2021 TRD sport with a front camera. I am looking to get the TRD pro grille, which I think I can directly from Toyota, it’s the same one that comes with the TRD lift kit. Does anyone know if this is a good replacement? Meaning, it will fit? And also, will the camera just fit into new camera holder? Or will it need a new mount? Or I’ll be good with just the grille? Thanks!

The grill will fit but your camera won’t. You can either buy a Pro Camera from the dealer and it’ll plug in or buy an after market camera mount for your camera to fit.

I don’t believe the Trd lift kit grille version has a camera hole. From reading on here, the camera should be the same part number as the pro, you will simply need the camera bracket for the pro grille. You will also need the pro grille with the camera option.
Check out this post for the camera bracket. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/where-to-buy-oem-trd-pro-grill.778896/page-4#post-28034506

I’m pretty sure there was a lift kit that came with the camera hole grille and a bracket to replace the bracket on the OEM camera for the 2020+ TRD Sport/OR grille camera to fit in the new grille. There is a part number for that bracket, I remember seeing it on a thread here.

For buying OEM from a dealer website you can always just snag a Pro VIN off a carmax listing.

Seen this post and in the same spot. I just placed two orders this morning for the grille (OEM) silver letters with no VIN required Part No.: PT228-35200-AA and found the bracket that is supposed to work with the grille (also OEM) Part No.: PT595-35210. Really rolling the dice here. I can reach back out once I get them and validate they work. Im still doing some research on a good grille garnish that will work with out errors and is not an arm and a leg.

If you come across other OEM main Grille assemblies with a -20 on the end the only difference I can tell and have read is the lettering colors.

Hope this helps and if I am incorrect please don’t hesitate to mention correct information as im new to the Taco world after departing the Jeep world!

Good luck. We are going down the same path. I ordered garnish from taco garage. I got my grille, bracket, and a couple of screws that was on the part list, all from Olathe.
I’m trying the install myself when it all comes in. Feel free to post updates. Hope it goes smooth for us.

Huge thanks to this community. Nearly all of my info was listed here on different threads, great info which helped me get all parts and be fully prepared. First time Taco owner, second mod. (First was bigger cup holders). :) Just swapped my grill out this morning.

Are the letters any particular color?

Black letters. This is the OEM grill that comes with the TRD lift kit. Letters can’t be changed out.

    Ohhhhhhhh!

    Dang!!!

When I decide to get the TRD Lift, I'll put the honeycomb grill back on my Sport and probably sell the EmpyreOffRoad Grill & Garnish. (Aftermarket)

Heck, I have a set of OEM Mudflaps too...as well as the Air Dam & OEM skid (the metal plate).

If you’ve already got the pro grill, then you may as well just do the leveling kit on your own or have a shop do it.
That would be the cheaper route. The only thing you’d be missing out on is the warranty at that point.

that’s my plan anyway. the TRD lift was quoted to me at $3200. So I’m just trying to obtain that same look on my own. Saving over $1200 easy.

    Whoa!

    $3200!!!

Here in Delaware, the total install price was +/- $2500.

I'm not that adventurous to install the parts myself so I'm planning on having the Dealership do the work.

Of course, I'd have to order the kit through the dealership...which is fine with me.

The Warranty work is what concerns me plus they can calibrate the TSS.

I totally get it. I’m the exact same way. I would have gladly done the lift kit through the dealer if it was closer to $2k.

I spent about $280 for OEM grill and after-market garnish. This was really my first time tackling anything like this. Took about 2 hours. I did some driving this evening and camera/TSS seems to be functioning just fine.

Definitely doable for someone who doesn’t have any experience. But I totally understand wanting to just have dealer do it. I debated for months.

Has anyone here had any luck installing an after market camera that fits into the Toyota heritage grill camera mount? or installing an OEM P/N 867B004030 one?
I may have missed a thread discussing that so apologies if that's the case.
