If you can, keep the stock grille. Some people like to swap before they bring it in for a warranty issue too. I have an OEM Pro Grille, but only have a 2019 Sport. If I ever have any issues, I’m swapping my grille back before bringing it back in.

Obviously, this and my previous post before this is a guess, you never know with Toyota.

It might be worth mentioning, if you have a 2018+ with the sensor and you do not like the functionality that the TSS sensor adds you can have the setting stick between cycling the vehicle on and off. To do this, you will need to either do it in tech stream at the dealer, or yourself if you have a cable and a copy of TS. Alternatively, I believe Carista has the option, but I haven't confirmed. I personally do not care for the "safety feature" and had the dealer change the setting for me. So when I turn PCS off, it stays off the next time I start the truck. I therefore do not have a garnish installed on my Pro grille. I did reinstall the radar though so no errors are on the dash and it still works for adaptive cruise. Going this route will have a the yellow PCS disabled light on the dash all the time though. So if that bothers you, something to consider.

What a bunch of bogus. Toyota will only sell it to VIN's that line up with TRD Pro's right now because there's so much demand? well no joke. All the other grills look like hell...

I thought this thread was a joke. I can't believe how Toyota jacked up the price of garnish.

Politely disagree with this one. You will want the radar system recalibrated if you switch grills, they will do the recalibration as part of the recall. That was so in my case.

Thanks @NWTacoTime. I had my eye on this as my last resort if not able to locate another. Pulled the trigger and it arrived via Amazon prime the next day! Got it installed and am glad I got it now before even less inventory exists at semi-reasonable prices.

@FreshMexicanTaco Hope you can locate some more OEM garnishes for your grills. Getting pretty scarce.

Sweet! So it was oem? Mine was a day late for delivery and I’ve been out of town so haven’t seen it yet- will install Sunday when I get home.

How was installation? Did you just pop off the plastic piece where the garnish goes and stick the garnish back in? Or did you have to remove the grill off the truck first ?

Yep. Definitely OEM. I had not yet installed the new grill at all so I did the whole grill swap at once. The OEM grill I bought was for 2018 so did not come with any cover in the garnish spot to begin with so I just put the new garnish right on. The garnish snaps right in with a couple clips (like the rest of the grill) on the bottom and a smooth tab (just for lining it up) on top. The small round posts on the side are meant for retainer push nuts to hold the garnish on more securely. You can buy those from the dealer for a couple bucks, but there are two that are used on the stock OR grill holding on the emblem that I pulled off and reused. P/N for retainer nuts is 90183-06044 I think. Good luck. Very easy process.

    bone stock for now
Thought I'd add a couple photos I took of my OEM garnish (bought it before this rash of counterfeit ones appeared).

    1) On the outer packaging I had an additional label, not sure if this is a dealer one or maybe related to just my order.
    20190811_110704.jpg

    2) There was 'paper tape' used to seal the packaging.
    20190811_110720.jpg

    3) Label was not misspelled and the barcode has more detail.
    20190811_110732.jpg

    4) The wrapping paper has a cotton 'feeling' anti-scratch coating on the inside.
    20190811_110950.jpg

    5) Most importantly probably, the garnish itself is a multiple peice construction, with the 'grill' on the inside raised on the plastic, then a clearish lexan covering on it. The majority of fakes I've seen (2) have the pattern basically screenprinted on a solid peice of non-transparent plastic.

    Hopefully this helps someone.

I agree! I hate the Sport/OR grilles, too much chrome and they are fugly! Whoever designed it was on some good stuff! lols

Some of the aftermarket metal grills look fugly too, reminds me of HS metal shop students using scrap grating leftover from their barbecue projects!

I swapped grills, from a Sport to a Pro. I have the TSS and did not have any problems with the sensor. It probably depends on the sensor if it needs to be recalibrated.
