Amazon and Ebay returns are sweet revenge if they do that to you!

I installed mine with 3 broken tabs and it feels quite sturdy.

You won't have any issues although a $10 or $15 refund would be fair.

Ask for that just to see what they say. They might go for it considering that shipping it back will be more expensive.

Hey guys, I have benefited greatly from this forum for a very long time and I finally felt like I had a tidbit to contribute.

I found a TRD Pro Grill (replica, I know) on Craigslist in Houston https://houston.craigslist.org/pts/d/katy-brand-new-tacoma-trd-pro-grill/6790059386.html. The guy is selling them for $170 which wasn’t a good price considering the same ones are available on eBay for $100 but I’m impatient and wanted it right away so he offered me one with a broken clip for $120. I bit on it thinking what the heck is one broken clip. I met him up in Katy, Homeboy drove up in a sick white Corvette and pulls out the grill. It had 4 broken tabs and one that was superglued on but the grill itself looked great. I really wanted to get rid of the chrome so I bought it anyway for $100 and drove away. My point in saying all this is just in case anyone decides to buy one from the guy, make sure to confirm that several tabs aren’t missing before meeting him.

My other point is that other member on here have received China grills with broken clips so this is how I fixed my 5 tabs to make sure it didn’t rattle:

I drilled a 1/4” hole in the center of each broken tab (I didn’t have the missing piece so epoxy was not an option) and ran a black zip tie through the hole and clasped it around the bezel or whatever it clips into and tightened the snot out of it.

To drill the holes I started with a small bit and worked up two sizes to the 1/4” bit to make sure I didn’t break the clip completely.

Full disclosure, all my broken clips were on the top part of the grill and the zip ties wrapped around perfectly. The bottom part may be a little more difficult. Anyway, I just wanted to share the idea for anyone debating sending theirs back to China or just being impatient like me.

I have zero rattling and it looks just as good as the grill on my neighbors TRD Pro. If you can afford an OEM grill or are patient enough to play the game with a broken replica then more power to you. If you want to make it work, drill a small hole and zip tie that mother trucker. It works and tucks in nicely behind the grill.
