So of all the alternative grilles I've seen I like the 2017 TRD Pro grille more than any of them. I thought I heard that you'll have to have a TRD Pro VIN# to get one of these? Is that the case? Will there be a way to get these for our lowly TRD ORs!?

Sure there's a way to get the grille. Buy a pro when they come out.

I feel the same way. The TRD pro grill is the way to go for me I am hoping when I order my 2017 OR this fall I can order the pRO grill as well. The dealership should know the part number Good luck

I'd love to get my hand on one of these TRD PRO grilles as well... Hopefully it will be available and not astronomically expensive

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
For the first year or so you will most likely need a Vin to order just the grille. Toyota wants to sell the pro not a bunch of grilles. They did it with the 2nd Gen and the Tundra pro when they came out. I'd say the fall of 2018 you should be able to order a grille without a Vin unless you have a guy at the dealership that's willing to order it for you.

I waited until Toyota stop making the 2015 models and started production on the 2016 models.

    Grille.

As far as getting one of them goes, you'll likely need to wait at least until they start producing the truck before trying to get parts for one.

Could you not just grab a VIN off one at a dealership and then order from a different dealer?

Or, if that fails, find someone who has one and pay them to order it

OEM parts get listed pre production. Things that get damaged in transport need to be replaced pre delivery. I'm watching the parts group daily.

a lot of bad ass stuff
Toyota knows there is money to be made in parts. I'm pretty sure you won't need a vin number or wait a year or so to be able to order one when they do become available. Saying this as I saw other tacomas (not pros) with the pro grille right after I bought my pro. It's great that yota will sell these grills but kind of sucks for the people who bought a pro thinking they would have something different and unique to the pros only but not really(exception to the inferno color for the 15's). Just like anything money talks.

I just saw the pro grille and I want one too!

I love that old school look it has. I'm definitely going to end up with at least some sort of aftermarket grille because I want one that says "TOYOTA" on the front, instead of the blob T.

What were they thinking with those tires?

They really should of done something cool like have a custom size and style made like Jeep did with the Rubicon.

I have a TRD Pro grille on my 2013 TRD OR. The 2016 TRD Pro grille is just as cool. They look so much better than the stock grille. A problem I had was replacing the chrome grille bezel surround that comes with the TRD OR. The TRD Pro grille does not come with a grille bezel, so I had to order a Tacoma Sport Black 202 grille and take off the black bezel. You cannot just get the grille bezel surround separately. It was a pain in the ass to have to order the TRD Pro grille and another Sport Black grille just for the black bezel. I hope this helps anyone else looking to replace their grille and bezel to color match the Tacoma. Just like @CountryDan said, money talks...

I'm sure @JLee is being cool and doesn't want to hijack this thread, but as an independent observer I'll point out for the sake of completeness that if you like the 'TOYOTA" styling, check out the grill in this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bamf-3rd-gen-recessed-raptor-style-grille.406245/

I've got a lot (years) of practical mods to get through before I get to cosmetics, but I think both the PRO and BAMF grills are a big improvement.

That was one of the others I was considering when I said "aftermarket." My only small objection to the BAMF is that it has the exposed fasteners. Nitpicky as hell, I know.
