Thought I'd make a post about the third gen TRD Pro shocks that I put on my 2nd gen. The fronts are off of a 2019 4Runner and the rears are from a 2019 Tacoma. I have just rebuilt all 4 and feels like a completely different truck! I'm now testing different spring setups for ride height and ride quality.

With the stock TRD springs (red) I got about 1-1.5" of lift over stock height, but with the Icon "mini leaf pack" in the rear, providing 1.5" of lift, it still sat way too low in the front. The stock springs are ~12.625" long and 600# spring rate. I got some 13x3x600 Fox springs (silver) to try out and added an additional isolator for added preload which netted another ~1" of lift over the stock springs, and the ride was naturally very similar.

I had some 13x3x650 Icon springs (black) laying around and decided to install them and see what difference they made to ride height and ride quality. The ride height is only 1/4" higher than the Fox springs, so it's 1.25"-1.5" of lift over the stock springs. So far I only have some road miles on them and they are noticeably firmer. On the road (with no swaybar) I like the feel and responsiveness of the added spring rate, but I'm curious to see what it's like offroad as I haven't had the chance to do yet. I kept the stock valving in them for initial testing and will adjust the valving later if I decide to keep the 650# rate springs on it, but I much prefer the lighter spring on it if possible.

I'll update this post as I discover things and test other setups!
