Trd pro lift question

    I am considering getting the Trd pro suspension kit to put on my 2012 trd sport. From what I've read online the pro suspension gives it about 2inches of lift in the front. I currently run 5100s all around with the fronts at .85, I measured and right now the back sits just over an inch higher than the front.

    My question is, with the Trd lift do you guys think I'll need to add a leaf? From my understanding the 2015 Trd pro rear leaf pack is the same leaf pack (post tsb) that all other trds have? The reason I ask is that the pictures I've seen of the pro look like the back sits significantly higher than mine (I have the tsb pack).

    The front is like an inch-inch.5, the PRO and OR share the same rear leaves, I wanted a little rake added back in and got +1 Alcans built, but I think doing it over again I'd do AAL.

    I’d go with take off MY16+ TRD OR front shocks. Would cost pennies on your dollar and you’d end up w/ similar height gains (on the front).

    Just my $0.02 ... but ... PRO (be sure to get the hat)

    If you want to lift the front, lift the front. Your 5100's would do just fine with taller/stronger coil springs. Guys get 2.5-3" with 5100's with Old Man Emu springs (885's for example).

    There's not much reason to buy someone's PRO Suspension (they likely ditched theirs to get 5100s, OMEs, or something better anyhow. LOL)

    If you want more height in the rear either buy a better leaf pack (Deaver or OME Dakars) or do an Add a Leaf for temporary lift.

    Thanks for the input guys, sounds like if I ran the TRD pro lift I would sit almost even, back maybe 1/2 inch higher. I thought the lift was a full 2 inches, but if its closer to 1.5-1.75inch I might just do that. I need to do some more research on what exactly I want to do. Or maybe just get a 2018 pro haha.

    Doesnt the Sport have the same leaf pack as well 3+1?

    You’re going to sag in the rear. At minimum get a 3 leaf progressive to keep a factory rake. It was the first thing I did to my pro.

    Also, if you don’t haul much, remove the overload leaf and just install the 3 leaf progressive. makes for a very nice ride with 1-1.5” in the rear give or take.

    I agree with this. The pro suspension is expensive for the minimal lift you will see (less than and inch once you set your 5100s to zero).

    I would go full OME lift with Dakars in the rear. Depending on your coil choice it’s a 2.5-3” lift.

    I know it'd be cheaper to go another route, the biggest reason I am leaning towards doing a trd kit is to keep the truck as near to all OEM as possible (all current mods are Toyota made and installed).

    I don't haul a ton, just a Uhaul every no and again when moving. Does removing the overload make the truck incapable of towing heavier items?

    Mainly just because that's how I've always done things with my cars in the past, gives me peace of mind for some reason

    OEM - Needle Bearing known to fail on stock trucks. Toyota has a TSB to replace.
    OEM - Leaf Springs known to sag. Toyota has a warranty extension and TSB to replace them.
    OEM - Frame rust. Toyota lost class action lawsuit. Has to replace all frames with holes in them.
    OEM - Air Pump fails due to foam filter disintegrating and killing pump. Toyota won't cover.

    Just saying...

    Aftermarket parts are usually superior to OEM.

    For example Old Man Emu does nothing but 4x4 parts for off roading. Their time and energy goes into nothing else.
    Maybe 1% of Toyotas business is parts relating to suspension lifts lol

    No reason to stay OEM unless you like making life more expensive and harder on you.

    No, but I kept my overload out for a couple weeks and put it back in. You’ll notice it does sag easier without the overload, but the ride quality is nice.

    I think that is way too broad of a statement. The ones you mentioned in this post, yea probably. But usually? I would argue that. Go check out eBay, plenty of garbage aftermarket parts.

    I am not trying to start an argument, but I believe that most aftermarket parts are inferior to OEM.

    @PackCon does have a point. If you’re buying the Pro suspension new, a whole OME kit would be similar in price. You won’t get a 2.5” diameter shock, but the ride and capability is very good.
