Actually MSRP is not what’s advertised for Quebec. Look at the website. If you choose a non-Quebec province it’s an “MSRP-based price”. If you choose Quebec it’s an “estimated price”. No mention of MSRP.

MSRP is the base price in both cases. In Quebec the website shows the total: MSRP plus fees. So in Quebec you are *absolutely* paying over MSRP. The result of the Quebec specific law is that the price is apparently capped by the dealer advertising.

Going back to the main point, Quebec, like the rest of Canada, doesn’t have an anti-price-gouging law that applies to vehicles. Requiring advertising to show only the out the door price does not prevent the out the door price from being astronomical. So it appears that, as long as Toyota supports and advertises a price increase, there is no ceiling.

The law says nothing about MSRP and nothing about price gouging. It’s simply a truth-in-advertising type of law.
