So been searching for another Pro the last few days. I was working with three dealerships one with a solar octane, and the others white. The solar octane is a manual with a couple grand of port installed fluff. They have it marked down $1000. The white ones all both at MSRP with quite a few add-ons. I decided to go a different route and work out a deal on a 21 super white auto with no options with 12,000 miles on the clock. It's marked down $2000 from retail, so not a bad deal. I have my finance secured from a local credit union, so hopefully if all checks out I will be picking her up tomorrow. I have only seen a few dealers have a markup about MSRP while searching. The craziness has def slowed down.

Where in WY are you finding land for $100 an acre? I’ve scarcely seen anything under $1-2k in the past couple years and that’s out in barren sage and 30 plus mph 365 days a year wind country… my family is in the Smoot area and most land is $50-100k an acre. It’s out of control! The billionaires have pushed the millionaires out of Jackson.

The solar octane pro in manual is what I am looking for but can not find one in the mid Atlantic area. No where. Crazy I can’t order one either. I have to do an allocation and hope Toyota will send one to my area.

Would be well worth the trip. Only a few hours away. I will have to make arrangements and look in to making a road trip.

I was seriously thinking about it. I would have to fly and drive. Problem is flying into Raleigh then getting to dealer 40 minutes away. On top of that driving 7 + hrs home. Doable, but not ideal for me anyway.

Paid MSRP plus around $1000 doc and processing fees....Dealer picked me up at the airport which was around 60 miles away. 626 mile drive home. I'm 55 and this is the first band new truck I have ever bought, I love the SO color, looks like a bass boat in direct sunlight.

Nice! I am going on 56, so the SO is a little to much for this old man. I need a more subtle color. Cement for my 4R, and white for my taco. Couldn't do the lime green either. Enjoy that beautiful ride sir.

Make the dealer pick you up!

I flew 900 miles into the Oakland airport from Seattle, got picked up by my salesman and drove the 40 mins into the dealership. Drove 900 miles (almost exactly) back home. Worth it.

I flew from Colorado to the bay area as well for a MT solar octane. It was msrp and the tax rate was 2.9 % higher then where I live. Just enough money to continue fighting with California dmv and my dealer. The trick with a California purchase is reclaiming the difference between your state and theirs. If you live in Washington or Colorado that's not a big loss. A few hundred bucks. But if you lived in say Nebraska you would lose almost 3k in just taxes. If you don't try to reclaim them

Curious how your titling went? My dealer charged me the lowest CA state sales tax (7.25% I think it was) and then gave me a one way temporary CA permit before sending the sale through to be titled in CA state.

My local WA dmv said they should have just sent the MSO (basically a pre-title document) directly to them to title it there since I’m not a CA resident. Also said that the dealer could have charged me my local WA sales tax and cut a check directly to WA DMV so I could roll it into my financing. CA DMV also confirmed that the CA dealer didn’t need to go through titling it in CA. Annoying, but I’m getting it sorted. Basically only got to roll in 7.25% of my local 10.6% sales tax into financing and had to pay like $2kish out of pocket.

My biggest annoyance is my local credit union I was going to finance through needs it titled in WA state to use them. So since I’m still waiting I’m a little over a month plus possibly another month at the expensive national Toyota financial rate vs my much lower local CU rate. Again, not a deal breaker.

Not sure if WA state reimburses you if I somehow paid more than my 10.6% somewhere else. They didn’t care that CA state dmv got 7.25% tax, they just said as long as I paid tax they’d credit me for it regardless of state.

Would I do it again? Probably - the thrill and anticipation was a rush and getting 900 miles to get used to the new truck was awesome. I’d probably go into it with explicit instructions from both my local and the buying state’s dmv to make the process as simple as possible.
