    Hey Everyone,

Im looking into some black rims for my 2015 and was wondering what are you all running in a 7/7.5 wide rim? Also what does everyone think of the trd pro rims vs aftermarket (pro comp, e.t.c..) quality/price. I like the look of the trd but not thrilled with the price (300/each-cad). Most pro comps I found were cheaper, the only problem was that all the black ones I found were all 8in wide rims.

I am planning on keeping with my stock tire size for now, so would prefer to stay with 7/7.5in rims.

Just wanted to hear your thoughts,

    Cheers!

You are unlikely to beat the combination in quality and weight in an aftermarket wheel, without spending a good amount.

The black TRD Pro 17" SEMA wheels only weigh 25lbs, or the 16" beadlock style TRD Pro wheels weigh 23.5lbs. I personally prefer OEM for weight and quality than anything aftermarket. Being a 2.7L, weight is something you will definitely want to pay attention to, as it affects acceleration and mpgs.

Quite a few different OEM rims from FJ Cruisers, 4-Runners etc will fit the Tacos, with many of them available in Black or dark grey. Maybe other wheels are getting better, but it has always been my experience that the OEM yota wheels seemed to fit as they should and balance right without any of the issues that many folks have had with after market wheels. If you can find a set you like I'd always vote for OEM rims. A couple other sources are Sequoias and such as most of their 6 lug wheels will also work.

You can't go wrong with oem, there for I would agree OEM.
I've always been a fan of oem.

    Another vote for SCS.

It may be a while for me, but I've had my eye on the SCS SR8's. They have a 16", and 17" version. The 16's weigh 22 lbs, and the 17's weigh 24 lbs. They are also a hub centric Toyota specific wheel, with a 106.1 mm center bore (the same as factory wheels, which is pretty rare in an aftermarket wheel). And they are reasonably priced. Lots of guys are here are running SCS. The one caveat is that the 16's are 8", and the 17's are 8.5" wide. There aren't many aftermarket wheels in 16/17" narrower than 8" width. Maybe time to (Assuming your running 245/ somethings) think about tires as well.

Don't know if this helps but I bought my oem TRD rims from this place and it was only $745 shipped for 4 (approx 1048 CAD).

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'll stick with OEM then. I found some local SR5 alloy rims with tire sensors, which are bubbling and peeling for 300$. Also called a powder coating shop today and they can clean and powder coat black for 75-100$ a rim.

Not many price breaks for us canucks right now, especially with our low dollar. So ill keep my eyes open and see if anything ever turns up in the future.

also aftermarket offsets are usually more aggressive, which will put more stress on your wheel bearings. More conservative offsets will allow them to last longer.

SCS rims are holding up well in salty New England. Scs has some pretty good staff and stands by their products in my experience. I've sr5's on my truck that you can check out in my intro thread.

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I was hard set on a set of black TRD beadlocks, to keep that OEM look, but after seeing constant positive reviews of @SCSPerformance wheels. I went with them instead.

    Good luck with your search!

Yes that is a trustworthy site, it is an actual Toyota dealer. Many have ordered from there.

I'm torn between the gray TRD SEMA wheels and the gray FNx Pro. I like 17x8 FNx Pro better than the 17x7 size of the SEMA wheel, but since I'm only going to run up to LT275/70-17 tires, a 7" rim will suffice. I like the idea of having OEM rims with the factory lug nuts that match the spare. Many after market wheels (including the FNx Pro) need conical seat lug nuts. So, if you don't get 5 wheels, you're dealing with having to carry a spare set of lugs to fit the OEM spare in the event you need to change a tire. Between the lugs (+1 for OEM), the width (+1 for FNx Pro), the hub centricity (+1 OEM, but I've heard no problems with the FNx Pro), the price (+1 OEM via link above), the looks (toss up, although I like the FNx Pro's flat center cap) and the avoidance of any potential hassles (+1 for OEM), I think I'm going with the SEMA wheels............YMMV....

Like crashnburn80 said, it's an actual Toyota dealer. 100% legit. The $645 price is pickup. They charge $25 shipping per wheel in the US.
