Your driving a 2 year old truck do you really need a new one that bad?

Besides they were probably busy designing this which is cool as fuck. http://www.imotortimes.com/toyota-f...rts-car-rebirth-confirmed-video-gallery-24522

Sounds like a totally rational reason to never buy a Toyota again. "Remember back 10 years ago in 2015 when they didn't redesign the Tacoma? That's when I stopped buying Toyotas." Hopefully Ford brings that unibody Ranger over to the U.S. So you have something to buy. At least that would be a vehicle that would need to be replaced every 2 years.

I know everyone likes to bash on the American trucks here, but before I bought my Tacoma, I sold my 2001 Ranger with 120k to a guy who's 2000 Ranger had finally given in at 525k. Just saying.

In a video I saw the announcer mentioned that the reservoir's were on the front shocks and not just in the back. Seems to be a Toyota spokesman who mentioned it as they showed off the TRD sound. I think he might have mis-spoke, but he did mention them on fronts as well.

For kicks a 2013 hood is 495 and you cannot buy them already painted from what I was told. Dunno how much it would cost to get one painted, but I can't imagine it being less than a few hundred.

That said, I'm torn. I've waited for the Baja for 4 months now. It ships and 1 week later Toyota pulls this. Don't particularly like the Baja sticker on what would be my 2014 since I'm sure the sticker cost passed down to me is probably like 400 bucks. So the question seems to be is waiting 6-7 months worth it for a skewp, grill, skid, black wheels, painted bumber, and internal stitching and mats? No way this package will be much less if any than the Baja though and like the Baja you can only purchase the Entune Premium which I'm sure they will do for the TRD Pro as well.

Decisions decisions... Talk about taking the wind out of my sales :( At least I still have a week to decide. For me, I really like the black wheels better along with the skewp :( I dunno what I'm gonna do

    Question:
Has anyone been able to confirm that it will have the same lift as the 2014 Baja?

    - The Baja sticker is easily removable with a hairdryer and some patience. It's also a delete option if your truck already isn't on order.
    - You can always trade hoods if you throw some cash on top. There are members who don't like the scooped hoods. If I had a Sport, I'd have jettisoned the hood on the way home from the dealer.
    - It's a wait and see on whether or not the Pro grilles will be easily available w/o a VIN and hoopla like other limited release parts, but I replaced the chrome grille on my OR with a Sport grille for less than $50 out of pocket.
    - The black wheels are easier to get than the gray ones. There are more than a few members (myself included) that would trade their black wheels for the Baja gray ones. I wanted gray to start and had to settle for the black ones.
    - The rear bumper is the same deal, occasionally you'll find someone who wants to swap. If not, you can always have one painted or just upgrade to an armor style unit.
    - The seat stitching I can't offer any help on.
    - The floor mats are nice, but the Weathertech units that most members (myself included) use are superior to cloth mats in terms of actual usability.

One of the few upgrades the Pro truly offers over the Baja model is the larger tires (265/75) compared to the Baja's (265/70).

Hope that helps your decision making.

Thanks Mikey. I just hate the way this happened, but the reality of marketing etc is are we ever really not slightly bummed when we buy things and see them upgraded soon there after. I mean a 2016 refresh is very likely, so by the time I might buy the TRD Pro in September I'll probably see some article with a new Tacoma refresh that's awesome and be like man, should I wait and get that OR go ahead with the TRD Pro even the the engine options on the 2016 would be better etc etc... You see where I'm going, so I'm sure I'll be happy either way. I just hate seeing the new stuff 2 weeks before I'm suppose to pick up mine.

I just need to decide which way that is lol

    I love the non redesign!

Sucks for Many but Awesome for me!

I've had my Tacoma since 2007 and it hasn't been out dated with a new design. When Toyota actually brings out the new Tacoma in Fall of 2015 (2016 Model). I would have had my truck with a design lasting for 8 years!

I think I'm very happy with that and I'd probably new a New Tacoma in 2017 or 18. . .

I have a regular cab and now need something larger (and 4cyl doesn't cut it at this elevation). It would have been nice to get rid of it in favor of a brand new Tacoma double cab, redesigned and with at least the 4.0L from their other vehicles for the sake of power and greater/equal fuel economy. The only upgrade in buying a '15 would be getting the cab configuration and motor I need. Unfortunately, I can't wait until 2016 if they even redesign it then

So yeah, it's sad. Would you rather have another premium/overpriced option boasting a new plastic insert grill and suspension (otherwise identical on the lower trims), or a truck that at the very least incorporates their other existing motors. It's just lazy. The majority/all of full size trucks now get better fuel economy while producing more power.

They do produce more power but for the most part fuel economy is the same or less accross the board for full size trucks. I'm just basing that off of fuelly.com, not advertised fuel economy.

I do fail to understand Toyotas incorporation of the revised V6 in the 4runner and FJ but not Tacoma.

Just in Toyotas defense I don't attribute their continued manufacturing of current gens for long periods of time laziness, they just know when they have a particular segment by the balls.

I don't mind a wait for next gen but I can see why early adopters are wanting the next model right about now. I hope Toyotas idea was to see what competitors are going to put out for midsizes (ex: Chevy Colorado) and plan to one up it.

I read on Edmunds this package is only for the 4 door with automatic transmission. I'd like an access cab and 6 speed manual. Can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes.....I could settle for a white one I guess.

I hope you're right Boosted but this is from Edmunds:

    What Is It?
2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Series

    What's New About This Model?
The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Series is an all-new trim package designed for hard-core off-roading. It's available on double cab, V6, four-wheel-drive models only and features a 2-inch front-end lift, additional wheel travel (1 inch front, 1.5 inches rear), specially tuned Bilstein shocks, a decreased spring rate for a more comfortable ride on rough terrain, a TRD cat-back exhaust, unique Toyota badging in the grille and other unique styling elements.

When Does It Go on Sale?
It will be available at dealers this fall.

    How Much Does It Cost?
Toyota did not announce pricing, but a 2014 Toyota Tacoma V6 double cab with four-wheel drive and an automatic transmission starts at $27,885.

What Kind of Engines and Transmissions Does It Have?
The TRD Pro Series is available only on V6 Tacomas with four-wheel drive. Like all other Tacoma V6s, the 4.0-liter V6 in the Pro Series produces 236 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque and is hooked to a five-speed automatic transmission.

    What Cab Styles Are Available?
The TRD Pro Series is only available on double cab models.

What Models Will It Compete Against?
2015 Chevrolet Colorado: The all-new 2015 Colorado's range-topping Z71 trim includes an off-road suspension, an automatic locking rear differential, a skid plate, all-terrain tires and trim-specific styling elements.

2014 Nissan Frontier: The Nissan Frontier offers two off-road-ready trims. The Desert Runner includes Bilstein shock absorbers and off-road tires, but you have to upgrade to the Pro4X to get a locking rear differential and skid plates.

    Should You Wait for It?
If off-roading is your thing and a midsize truck is your vehicle of choice, this is a package worth waiting for. The 2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Series follows Toyota's great tradition of creating off-road-ready vehicles that boast commendable reliability.

You could get an aftermarket hood from Partsgeek for $150 + shipping...
    http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2013/toyota/tacoma/body_mechanical_-ar-_trim/hood.html

I was waiting for the aftermarket to catch up to do an 2012+ front end swap. It's getting closer...

Why? The bumper should be compatible with 2012+ front end. Only difference should be a bigger gap between the grille and the bumper.

its basically like throwing a hungry dog a scrap piece of meat while its waiting for dinner, keeping it somewhat happy while all the other dogs are stuffed and satisfied.

    dog = toyota fans
scrap meat = this new tacoma
    dinner = future tacoma redesign
other dogs = other truck companies
