For you guys getting one of these skids delivered, here is a install tip. The allen head bolts for the filter access panel can come freakishly tight from the factory. Before installing the skid plate, I suggest breaking them free and put a light coat of anti-sieze lube on the treads before reinstalling.

Got mine installed. Went on easier than i thought. I had all bolts, spacers and washers intact. Box was destroyed and the skid was hanging out the bottom but suprisingly no damage. I did torque the bolts to 33 and 21ftlbs and mark with paintpen.

    Sweet!!!

I'm gonna loosen the allen head bolts as suggested and put some anti-seize lube on treads.

That is a great idea! ^^

I just checked on my skid plate and it says estimated delivery by 9 PM tonight. Prepping the truck for quick install is a good idea. If it shows up tonight and the weather cooperates, I’ll have it installed by the weekend. Stay tuned …

My MPGs didn't change going from stock TRD OR skids to a steel IFS skid. As you add more and more bits it might wear on the suspension, which is worth a concern, but if you only do the skid - I wouldn't worry about it. I'd go steel.

It has arrived! $303.00 door to door. Appeared to be packaged well, with just two small holes where the bolts wore through the cardboard. With that said I am missing the left rear bolt. Nowhere to be found:mad:

Unfortunately, it is very common for those bolts to get lost during shipping. If you contact the seller, they should send you a new pack of hardware for free.

I was missing one bolt too! I emailed the Parts Guy and he said he'd order/send new bolts. The packaging was intact like yours with just a couple of holes from the fixed bolts.

Since I have the Talon CAT plate, I don't need the bolt...I realized that when I installed my TRD Skid Plate yesterday. I need to upload photos on this thread as well as my intro thread where I'm keeping track of all my add-ons.

Thanks guys. I did send the parts guy an email last night to him know. Believe or not, the parts guy already got back to me this morning saying he will order the bolt(s) and send them out to me.

So far, this Prestige Toyota has been a pleasure to deal with online.

    Yes!

Lou has been really helpful with me too. (If that's the guy you're communicating with)

He changed the "delivery address" for me...so I was kinda glad they didn't have any TRD Skid Plates in stock at the time.

There are other items on their website that I may consider ordering too.

Just got off the phone with Prestige also. Bolts on order. Common problem obviously. You'd think Toyota would come up with a better packaging solution to keep those bolts in place.

    Looks great!
Anyone know if this skid would fit my 2018 SR with the 2.7?

I wonder if you can put that cheater valve for draining the oil people have debated...forgot the name already.

I did loosen the hex bolts on the TRD Skid Plate...man, they were tight as all get-out!

I'm gonna give specific instructions to hand-tighten instead of torquing them at the dealership in Feb when I get my 10K Scheduled MX.

Oh! I do love the look of my TRD Skid Plate...the Air Dam is off!!!
