Will a 2017 TRD Pro skid plate fit a 2016 TRD OR truck? Is the Pro skid heavier duty than the TRD OR skid ? I don't want to remove the brackets that connect the radiator support beam to chassis that are above skid plate. Thanks

Should fit perfectly. It is definitely heavier then the stock off-road tin that comes from the factory. I'm sure there are better plates based on what has been posted on the forum. However I do like my pro skid, and like to stay oem. Your 16 should be identical to my 17.

Does it use 2 of the middle bolt holes that were provided for either the rear holes of front piece or front holes of rear piece (referring to the 2 piece skid plate)? It does not require removal of the brackets does it? The pics of Pro skid appear to have 6 bolts whereas the Off Road 2 piece model has 8 bolts total

Sorry I don't remember exactly, but you are correct that the pro skid only uses 6 bolts. All I removed was the factory skids and bolted it up. Easy 15min job with a creeper. Had a few bolts left afterwards. The pro skid comes with spacers on 4 bolts iirc.

The pro skid leaves the brackets in place, you remove two of the back screws in the brackets and two of the forward screws, these are replaced by longer bolts that bolt through the skid into the same holes holding the brackets in place with the skid on top.

Halfway down the page on this link (another thread) user Comb has the PDF with the full instructions

Picked up Pro skid plate today and installed. Awesome! One question: The oil filter access plate is NOT centered below filter. Filter is offset left of center looking up. I assume that is intentional to make it easier to get hand or filter wrench up on filter? It obviously is intentional. Does the access work well? I mean you don't need to remove skid to change oil? Thanks

BTW: my dealer parts counter sold it to me for $350, not including tax

Man, this skid is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Just didn't think it would fit non-Pro trucks. Thanks to this forum, I found out it would. It is not just a Pro Skid. It's a TRD skid.

Does anyone have or is able to get the width of the plate at the forward brake bend at the uprights. I'm in the midst of fabricating a relative replica and determining the required width of the brake. Any insight into what that measurement is would be greatly appreciated!

You mean how wide where it turns up going to radiator support beam? FYI: Toyota uses the bolts which secure the 2 brackets which connect the radiator support beam to the chassis. 1 bolt on each front radiator support beam and 2 bolts each bracket back on chassis. The 2 bolts on rear of bracket allow it to resist bending. I am going in garage to measure plate width now.

At break it is 29.5" wide. The vertical sides flare out about 1.5" making that width 32.5" (29.5 + 3"). I didn't measure the height of sides but there is protection afforded by the flared out side panels

That's exactly the measurements I've been searching for, mostly just to use as a reference. I've found a couple dimensions but nothing as far as the actual width. Thanks for getting those, it helps a lot!

For all those who asked about fitting this skid plate over a diff drop. Mine was unable to fit over my BDS 6" w/ coilovers. I even took it into Toyota for a second opinion and suggested using metal tube spacers. They said that it probably would fit with spacers, but it would look really funny cause there would be huge gaps. I'm gonna get it modified through a fabricator to fit correctly. This skid plate will be the most expensive TRD skid plate in history when it finally gets installed (NOT MY GOAL)!!!

Finally got the skid plate on in conjunction with my 6" BDS (DB) lift. They cut the back end off where it met the drop bracket and fabricated new mounts.image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg
