It’s definitely a worthwhile upgrade. Mine was a bit firm for a bit but now that I’ve got some miles on it, it’s awesome. Totally worth it IMO

I agree with it being a worthwhile upgrade. For what you are looking for, there isn't a better way to go if you aren't upgrading a lot more than the shocks imo. There are other setups that will be softer if your main concern is highway comfort. My last truck was an offroad so I know the mess it turned in to when you are actually offroad with any speed on the stock setup. It's a night and day difference for your desired use in particular. On road it is significantly more firm, but the truck also handles MUCH better.
If you do swap them keep in mind the tuning on the shocks is side specific. If they go on backwards you'll have double the taco lean (there are a couple offroads I've seen in town here with them where I am sure they are on backwards).

    thanks for the notes!
Definitely ripping up washboard and pot hole filled roads with bikes is the desire.
How do I know which side is which????

I just had this done. Noticeable difference from stock Sport suspension. I didn't realize how bumpy the Sport suspension was until after this suspension went on. The on-road ride is smoother. This could also be due to having new tires (K02's). I expected more body roll going down to 16" wheels, but there didn't seem to be any more of than compared to the Sport suspension. This is after about 25 miles of on road driving. The real test will be high speed off road. I will try to get pics up later.

I bought these new from BAM Wholesale back in November. My OTD cost was $2286. Forget the debate whether to buy new or used, it seems that Toyota has discontinued this sku. Looks to be just a handful of kits remaining on the web and then after that, you will have no choice but to find them used.

So that spacer pushes the line out about an inch around the shock reservoir, because the stock sport suspension doesn't have that reservoir. Although, if you wanted to, could get by without using the spacer. I think someone on TW did it using cable ties.

IMHO, if your intended use case in on-road (including dirt roads) you are wasting your money on the trd pro fox shocks or any other off-road shocks.

There will be some off-roading, just not a whole lot of it.

You guys are making me want to get a set for my 16 sr5 DCLB! Got a few things to get caught up on around the house and I just might start looking, if a decent mileage set comes up somewhat close to me.

swapped my OR suspension (with 80k on it) for a set of newly rebuilt Pro shocks. Another member on TW had bought an older pair with 50k on them and sent them to Fox for a full rebuild. So for a good price I essentially got “new” shocks. Install wasn’t too bad at all in my garage.

only have about 500 miles on then so far but they are more planted and firm on road imperfections, but not rough. Hit a larger bump , pothole, etc., and they really soak it up. Body roll and nose dive reduced by at least 70% easily. Haven’t had a chance to get them off-road yet but expect them to be a hell of a lot more fun than the bouncing shaky, harsh trips I was getting in my old Billy’s.

pretty much leveled out my truck as I had over an inch rake before, I have about 1/4” rake still that’s barely noticeable and levels perfectly with a bit of weight in the bed.

I initially bought a longer bolt and a 1" spacer, and while that probably would have worked fine, I figured I saved a lot of money on good suspension so I went ahead and spent the $ on that little spacer. Much cleaner and more secure, at the least.

It would be great if this question can be answered, if it's true.

I disagree very much with this. The trd pro suspension has much better on road ride than the trd offroads stock suspension. I drove 15k with the stock bilstiens, and then 10k with pro suspension (same truck). The pro suspension feels much more controlled and stable on road, there is less bouncing, less body roll and less front end dive.

The pro suspension was designed to handle offroading well, but toyota knew that most people will spend the majority of their time on road.

    Thanks for your input!
The nose dive is pretty bad on my stock Off Road. Almost 10k miles in now and it still catches me off guard.

Maybe I should just go Pro shocks and call it a day.
