What insurance co? That's bs. I used to work for a major insurance and worked with adjusters. They have the vin. The vin goes into details about the model and what options are in included. They can see parts breakdown. Detailed enough that the vin distinguishes between regular chrome grill vs pro grill for example. Before they can even offer you any $$$, they have to do pricing research.

I have State Farm and in the past have been very good. I did have had to open a claim with them to start. The "cause" of all of this was in an out of state rental and was hauled off in an ambulance before any real information could be gathered. It took a week to get a police report and of course it states no proof of insurance by the driver. So I am sure my insurance is trying to get off cheap in the event he doesn't have any or they have to put up a fight.

State Farm is full of douche bags. My wife and I had it for years till she bumped some lady taking off from a stop light. We had to pay an attorney to represent us against our own insurance company. Not to be a downer, but be prepared to fight them.

I guess it all depends on who is working your case. I've had good experience with State Farm when my neighbor backed into my parked car. She had State Farm and they took care of her claim fast. I had my check the same week!

Never had a problem with State Farm on claim side but they are expensive and kept jacking rates particularly on house. I found a good company and house with cars is equal to State Farms cars alone.

Which company? Nationwide has been doing the same thing to me. My homeowners has gone up by nearly 50% in the three years I have owned my home.

Good luck with insurance company ... I have seen them fix vehicles that were damaged much worse (from your photos).

Glad nobody was hurt ... keep us posted on what happens.

Sorry about the truck, but I am kind of chuckling about some of the responses.

ANPAC or American National. They are based in Missouri. Not sure what states they are in. I had my boat insurance with them and after State Farm raised my homeowners 3 years straight and almost doubling I gave ANPAC all of my business.

If you can get usaa go for it. They're cheap but the service is top notch. They have my car, home, and personal property insurance as well as my banking and truck loan. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I guess I don't have my life insurance through them but close enough.

Sorry for coming in late on this thread but I feel for you Cdill. Went through the exact same thing just a few weeks ago. I know you probably took really good care of your truck and it is a beautiful one btw, could never quite afford the TRD models. My condolences for your truck but that's great that everyone is ok.

As far as the insurance company goes, I tried battling their pittance of an offer for the reimbursement of my totalled 2007 Toy Taco Prerunner but in the end I had to accept. I felt naive and it felt like I got swindled. The appraiser basically said that they compare vehicles within a certain mile radius and make adjustments according to make, model, trim, accessories, etc. But what it really boils down to is that the insurance will give you a check based on a private sale and not what it costs to buy from a dealer.

Don't know if that helps but I thought I would at least share my experience. Good luck.

USAA, lately has made me want to shoot myself in the head. Horrible company with terrible customer service. They used to be great, but this year I unfortunately have only had bad experiences. Unfortunately they are giving me the best rate so I won't want to move companies. I feel like soon though they are going to piss me off enough to make me leave, and I mean leave. Take all my insurance, loan, and banking away... far away.

My family has been with them for over 30 years. My parents have only had great experiences with them up until this year. My mom totalled a car and had a battle with them. I took out a third auto insurance policy with them and got my loan with them and it's just been a horrible experience. Makes me mad because over all I think they have been a great company. I don't know what has changed about them recently but it will probably kill their company.
Both my parents are about ready to leave too. So it's not just me. My dad is getting hosed on home owners insurance now.

^^Unfortunately I am still waiting. I have gotten settlement offers, but none were even close to replacement value based on what is advertised on line. My insurance has finally hired a 3rd party to value the truck and for the first time have actually gone out to see it, but no word as of Friday.
