That looks so nice. Pardon the ignorance, but are these pics with 285's or 265's?

I got it from a guy in Sacramento on Craigslist. Found it on Autotrader at a dealer, but then the guy took it off the dealer lot to sell private party. Lived 5 years in Markleeville, CA with a grandpa and then six months in Yuba City/Sacramento.

Thanks! That's about as shiny as it's been since I've owned it... kinda has a perpetual layer of dust now. That photo is with the 285/33's and I need to get a new side profile shot in the driveway to compare. Like the way bigger tire look, but 12-14 mpg sucked with CA gas prices. The below is the most side profile shot i could find from the past few months

Unpopular opinion, not a huge visible difference from 285/265, but that's why I wanted to know. For science :D. Large MPG difference. I get 16 if I don't idle too much.

Pro tip: leave the dust. It's crazy how much clean Tacomas lose in hawspwr.

I'm loving the 265/75 compromise on the 16s.

Yeah that looks so clean. I lifted my truck since mine its a TX TRD not a pro (no one tell the OP :spy:) so it looks like it needs 285s. I wonder if I should go back to 265's at least once a week. I definitely notice some off road improvements, but not sure its worth it as a DD.

haha not a problem to leave the dust on. glad that hawspwr boost wasn't just in my head

Luckily I live in a rural area with both work and trails real close so the DD consideration isn't as big for me. If I had a big commute or had to drive hundreds of miles to get outside, I'd be 100% happy with smaller tires. Dragged the diff a few times this weekend on a 4x4 trail so thinking i'll bump back up in the future.

Thanks, I'm certainly a fan. Huge upgrade from my subaru before. Not sure what his username was, but definitely was on here. He told me tacomaworld would be a helpful resource and that's right on.

My truck is my daily on 295’s for a couple years now. E-rated jarring goodness on all 10-plies thicker than my hollow skull

I tried scrolling back through a bunch of pages in this thread to see if I could find him. Unfortunately not all Baja/Pro members participate in this thread’s shenanigans. But a Raptor owner of course parallel parks across 3 stalls like he owns the place.

Dang... really selling me on the 10 ply goodness as if my sidewall slash this summer in a 100º canyon wasn't enough. How's the E rated ride when you're aired down on washboard? Have a lot of desert washboard round here and it's tolerable down around 18psi

I believe they call it the ‘dirty truck’ mod here on TW

Yeah 265 to 285 only nets you about 1/2” more diff clearance. But that might be all you need. You could always go to 295’s like @Island Cruiser :D

Haha And eventually you’re probably going to convince me to do the same thing. It’s only money, right?
