You are correct. Which is why these stupid dealer markups are still a thing.

Even that price tag was like “um isn’t 6 figures a little heavy handed?”

Those of y'all towing with your tacoma, what's the real world gross weight tow limit you've noticed?

I am not sure how to define the limit necessarily, but I tow a 22ft travel trailer (GVRW: 4,800lbs) with brake controller, stiffer leaf springs, & weight distributing hitch system. Despite all if this the ride is still a bit sketchy. Upgrading the brakes would alleviate my anxiety a bit more, but the truck still lacks the power to make it a good towing experience.

In my opinion if you are vacationing with your trailer a few times a year than it's fine at that weight. I wouldn't recommend getting too close or exceeding the limit.

I see guys on here tow at or above the limit and say it tows good/great. Spoiler alert: they are full of sh!t.

If your job/lifestyle requires lugging around that kinda weight regularly, get a bigger truck.

It's been going for while. First time I saw it was on the Civic Type R, then the TRX. makes me wonder if dealers are just going to start doing this for any semi-desirable car.

Even the new GR Corolla, I've heard dealers are not only doing "market adjustments" but also taking bids from potential buyers so the highest payer gets it first.

Looks like I may be trading/selling the trailer I just picked up from my dad's friend...didn't know it's weight until after deal, 2200+ lbs

Hmm...not as bad as I was expecting. But I'll have to actually drive it down the road. It was just dropped off today.

But I also removed a leaf from the rear pack last summer. And have some air bags I can reinstall. And a big AND is that isn't with the proper sized drop hitch.

Thing is I bought it thinking it weighed less than 2200lbs, and my project at the time was a built XJ, now I'm building a JK Rubicon, which is about 500lbs heavier.

You answered my first question, was what vehicle will be going on the trailer.
Next, where do you plan to tow that? With a JK Rubicon, if you say up I-70, you're prolly gonna have a bad time. I don't know weights off hand of the Jeeps, but our passes are pretty brutal. SC will help, but braking could be sketchy.
I haven't towed heavy loads in years, so pay no attention to me. lol

Valid point, the terrain plays a major role. But like I said earlier if you are towing here and there, even at towing capacity, you'll be okay it's just not the greatest.

It's already posted up for trade, looking for a 14 or 16'. And ya up 70 lol. Itd definitely be right at/above limit. JK weighs about 4300 after I finish it. And a 2200 lbs trailer... hopefully I can find a smaller, similar one

Anyone else notice this sticker in their driver's side door? I got a laugh out of it. Because the TRD Coilovers?

Pretty much any car is being marked up in some form right now. Whether it be market adjustments, or aftermarket dealer add ons or accessories. Of course these desirable "cool" cars will get hit the hardest with add on pricing lol.

I barely noticed an empty cargo trailer I towed. No trailer brakes but 6-pistons with 340mm calipers & supercharger.

    Yup.

    @Wulf need another trailer?

Nah, it's the special wheels I think.

If it's an auto, you definitely need to watch your transmission temps and maybe even load a special transmission tune with HP Tuners to keep the torque converter locked a bit better to keep temps down.

Have basically all the same. And truck has the tow package with transmission cooler. Finding pretty much all of the trailers in this style, even 16' wood slat ones, are 1900+ lbs. I may keep the trailer and try to find another salvaged truck to tow trailer and jeep.

Looks great! In your first pic, your truck looks straight up Barcelona Red, not Inferno. Crazy how the light changes it so much.
