Interesting. I wonder what's different about the 05-11 such that it's not included. If you're going down a sound deadening rabbit hole... did you see the 3rd gen door seals which can be fitted to the 2nd gens (goes between front and rear doors)? They're cheap but results seem to vary by user. For the life of me I can't find the thread where they talked about it. I have the part numbers at home though and could look it up later. I was actually planning on installing them this weekend.

I'll be interested to see how your sound deadening project goes. A little while back I did my floor, roof and back wall with CLD and then CCF. It made a good improvement in both sound and temperature insulation. I skipped the doors due to time constraints but plan to come back around to do those later once I dive into replacing my audio system.

Hmm I haven't seen the 3rd gen door seal mod, but I'll look into it. The more I look into the TSB the more I see it's really only for the kazoo noise in crosswinds. Some guys in this thread recommend bending the top of the door frame to bring the seal closer to the cab for wind noise https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/door-seal-noise-driving-me-insane.527608/

This guy recommends a whole new aftermarket seal addition to the cab https://youtu.be/736UhJpjo2k

I'm going to do the doors, floor, roof, and back cab in dynamat xtreme 67 mil, dynaliner ccf in 1/8" 1/4" and 1/2" sizes in different places depending on available space. I used the Niosh app on my iphone and during a normal drive home it was registering 75-80 decibels which is pretty bad.

Hmm, I've noticed the kazoo wind noise maybe 2-3 times in my 7 years of owning my truck...Didn't realize there was a fix. It was some pretty extreme cross wind on a couple of road trips. Thanks for the info Gio.

This seems to be the best fix for the cross-wind kazoo:

I'd seen that thread too about adding the aftermarket weather stripping. That 3rd gen door seal may even be buried in that thread, I'm not sure. I thought about doing what's found in that thread, and may still, but figure the interior CLD/CCF is a better use of time and money. At least at first.

I have my doubts at how accurate the dB apps are but I tested all my cars a while back too and I feel like my truck was nearly as loud inside as my Integra which is a darned tin can. That said, my ear dyno wouldn't agree with those readings.

So far the sound deadening I did was well worth the effort. Our dog isn't a fan of riding in cars, especially if they're noisy so that was one of my main reasons for doing it. That and I was wanting to prepare for new speakers. The added temperature control is a big perk too.

Try the NIOSH app (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) seems to be the most reputable

Yep, the TSB is just for the kazoo.

Thanks for the reminder about this. I’m not going to pay OEM prices for TSB seals, but I get annoyed enough with the kazoo in Wyoming several times a year that I’ll try the 1/4” irrigation hose.

Same. I keep meaning to do it ... but the kazoo only plays its song once in a blue moon so I always forget about it.

Same here. Always assumed it was a freak thing with my aftermarket windshield but I guess not

Looks like you made a lot of progress! I'm assuming the rear bedsides are norrowed in towards the taillights?

@CRUSH , Great question. The PO had a real estate firm and purchased 3 new T/X Baja’s when they were released to the public. He enlisted 2 of them as run-about vehicles for his firm, and the third (his favorite), he supercharged and kept for himself as a toy that he seldomly drove.

…seldom drove… Yeah, I can tell from the 11 year old, original tires that are probably pretty dried out by now.

Also, they must have used a 55 gallon drum of Armor all before taking photos! The bed mat, cubbies and EVERY surface including the center console is coated in it. Gross.

Nah, I already know they are old by being the original KO’s that were discontinued a while ago and came stock on the Bajas.
