The gf and I took the taco out for some Labor Day camping.

It's pretty lonely living here in Detroit....I see MAYBE 2-3 other Tacomas a week out here. Lots of dirty looks from the "Motor City" drivers....

Did you remove the "beadlock" rings?

Thanks for the response. I am getting ready to have 285s installed on mine next week and only have mud flaps off at this time. Will add spacers and AAL after install if needed, but with any luck(and minor trimming) I wont need them.
I had Americas Tire order in some Nitto terra grapplers because they were the only decent 285/75 that I could find in a D rating, like the stock BFGs. I really want BFG KO2 but am nervous about E ride quality. Did you notice much difference between the stock D and the KO2 E's?

Looks like it, I did the same thing on my Pro for a while. I got some black plastic spacers from Grainger and put the bolts back in.

Yeah I took them off....let my friend convince me they'd look good white so I had them powder coated. I think I actually like the look a bit more without them??

You know I don't think I noticed too much of a difference in the ride. I had E rating duratracs for the last couple years on my '03 taco so maybe I don't know what a good ride feels like anymore (sts). Plus the roads out here are absolutely terrible anyway so it all feels about the same. Terra grapplers are a solid choice though.

Thanks guys for the replies. If I remember correctly, someone had to get their wheels balanced again after removing them. Did that apply to you guys too? And since it isn't true beadlocks, you can remove the rings with the tires still mounted on, right?

Yeah, you can remove them without doing anything else. Your best bet is to remove them, but remember which one went to which wheel, and try driving it to see if you get vibrations. I didn't, but some people have said they have. If you do, either put them back where they were or go get your wheels rebalanced.

I'm looking at buying a 2013 TX Baja and I can get it for a pretty decent price, but the shocks and springs have been replaced with some random shocks, stock springs, and a spacer in the front. Would a set of 5100s in the front with some 14 in. 650 lb springs be a good choice to replace them with to level the truck out without using the spacer? I would love to have the Bilsteins that came on the truck, but I cant justify spending that much money on a daily driven truck. After reading all 90 pages of this thread, I am pretty much dead set on the TX BAJA and I cant wait to post some pics once its mine!

Without the Baja shocks and springs, it's just a TRD Off Road model with different stickers and TRD beadlock style wheels. But if you can get it for a non Baja model pricing, then I guess it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately it doesn't have the stock TRD beadlock style wheels either, someone has replaced them with some XD wheels and nitto terra grapplers. One thing I was concerned about was that it has a trailer brake installed, which means someone has been using it for towing, and the truck has 58K miles on it.

As far as price goes, its cheaper than all the other TRD off road models I could find on cars.com, so its still a pretty decent deal I guess.

*Edit: it does have a lifetime unlimited mileage warranty from the dealership, so that's also a plus.

I'm actually swapping out my Baja suspension on my 2012 if you are interested. Right now I got the coilovers off of it.

Looks like the stock TRD wheels to me, just the sun is hitting it just right where it has a debadged look.

So it doesn't have any of the things that make it a Baja, but it does have extra wear and tear on the drivetrain? Hmm.
Those warranties usually don't cover what you think they'll cover. Be careful out there.

Lifetime unlimited mileage warranty. Now that's a bold move by a dealership.
