Its funny that the 4 runner feels that way, the actual interior dimensions in the front has the Tacoma actually bigger

    Tacoma
    Front head room. 39.7 in
    Front Leg room. 42.9 in
    Front shoulder room. 58.3

    4 runner
    Front head room. 39.3
    Front leg room. 41.7
    Front shoulder room 57.8

Yeah I had to do a double take myself when I checked them, maybe it has something to do with making it feel bigger since the whole vehicle is enclosed. I also thought the 4 runner felt larger inside. And I think it feels skinnier on the trail but dimensionally it also is not.

    Tacoma Width (without mirrors). 74.4
4 Runner width (without mirrors). 75.8

Another interesting one was ground clearance again I thought the 4 runner was better but it is not

    Tacoma 9.4
    4 Runner 9.0

4 runner does have it beat in length and wheelbase (shorter)

I still say if you don't need a truck bed, but still need the capabilities, the 4 runner is hard to beat especially if you want to keep it a long time.

For sure. If I didn't need the bed, I would 100% be getting a 4Runner.

I'll probably get one in the next couple of years or so, the tacoma is not going anywhere, I would just like to add a 4 runner to the mix.

Dual vehicles, I think I'd be similar. That, or I'd be getting another fun car. Miss the WRX sometimes.

Yeah I would ike to relegate the Tacoma to doing truck stuff (Still need a bed around here) and use the 4 runner for the camping exploring trips

I bought an OR in Dec 2020.

If I had to do it again: SR, build the suspension/armor up myself from there. Everything that comes on the OR is doable, hell I've got 60k on it and have beat it in the trails. But the suspension, and locker, I could have done for a grand w/ stock takeoffs.

If I had to do it again without building up an SR, I'd be in an OR and not even look at the pro.

Ah, and I need the bed for the camping. Don't want a propane tank, camp toilet, firewood, water jug, etc. rolling around in the passenger compartment. Plus, I can mount my RTT lower on a bed rack instead of all the way up on the roof.

Yes, those are all options that can be added but, as he stated, you narrow the gap between the OR and the Pro significantly when you option the OR similarly.

Your off road was not 10k less than pro. Which is the point being made

I'll be getting mine at MSRP, and there aren't discounts on the lower trims much either. The gap is much closer now.

Agree 100 percent we have the 2022s and the 4runner is a much better built car. When you make the same car for over a decade in a world class factory where people havent quiet quit yet lol it really shows

Unpopular opinion: I got the PRO and love it. Drove an OR for a couple months and found it very stiff and spartan (and I could not find the premium package in a 5’ bed). The shocks and all the goodies on the PRO are awesome. That said, I don’t like doing major mechanical mods - no time or stomach for it. I also like the resale of a stock PRO versus a modified OR where the market doesn’t reward your mods. You lose that money.

It was well worth it for me because I just love the PRO and its special limited production and all the nonsense many people give zero fucks about, so it’s not the same calculation for everyone. For me it’s just perfect out of the box — I added a tonneu and will swap tires for 265/75/16 Falkens and maybe add ditch lights and I’m done

I’m sure custom shocks like icons or something are great / better than the fox pro shocks, but I fucking love the Fox shocks. The difference between them and the billsteins is incredible. I just rip over train tracks and feel my nuts dampened by the lovely smooth bypass shocks

also the cameras and all the stuff you don’t get unless you option up to the premium

I estimated total cost of ownership and concluded that for long I would keep the truck, the Pro will actually cost me less than an OR, so went for the Pro option. It helped that it was straight MSRP where I live.

If someone is dumb enough to pay over MSRP, then sure. If the Internet rumors are true, then plenty of people paid over. Car and Driver actually poked fun- specifically at Tacoma owners- a few months ago as they tend to not only pay over MSRP, but then brag about their purchase right here. But we're talking about MSRP, which countless people on this forum have proven is possible if you actually shop around and don't let emotions get in the way.

Yeah. It helped that when I got the elective lime (which I freaking love) it was in lower demand bc it’s such a crazy color and paid only about $3K over MSRP. Most were charging $10k to $15 over in Texas which is nuts.
