Sound reasoning...I did not want to pay anywhere near $50K.

I figured under $40K would get me a nice truck...and it did!

Sure, you do you boo. Sounds like a good way to justify the extra $$ you want to spend. I'll stick w/ the OR myself

I went OR, but am superficial and did some Pro upgrades, it was much cheaper - but I still love a hood scoop, if you have the financial means and like the looks I say go for it. From a functionality standpoint I don't think the pro offers a $10k justification in price

Depends on your finances. Once you get that high in price, the payments skyrocket. Especially when they take you to the back and add in the road-side assistance and warranties.

If you got fat stacks, get Pro.

I'm glad I got the pro. I was able to do the one payment plan. I might get another just to have a auto when i want.

Actually I've justified spending about $40k less than I set out to spend, but thanks.

To say that the Pro is $10k more than an OR is disingenuous.

The price or the claim that its a $10k better vehicle?

Also why do you have to use such dumb vocab on the internet. I'm no English professor

This makes no sense; it isn't as if the Pro is geometrically more expensive than the Off Road; the fact is, if any given Pro is say, 10% more than a given Off Road, and if you put down 10% more, then your payments will also be 10% higher. How is it you think payments will "skyrocket"?

    "dumb vocab?"

It won't hurt you to converse like an adult.

Whenever someone argues that the Pro costs $10k more than a Pro, it just shows ignorance. The Pro takes a LOADED TRD OR and adds stuff to it. If it took a base TRD OR and added stuff to it, you could get away with saying it cost $10k more, but it's roughly $4000 when you make a realistic comparison. As for "better" or "more value"... that's completely subjective, which is the basis for just about every argument here.

Here’s my take: They’re both awesome and you can’t goof it up, just pick your flavor.

Long bed OR or Sport over the Pro. Sure the Pro looks good, and has all the options. If you are looking for OR performance for example the shorter wheel base get a Wrangler it has a solid front axle or get a Bronco you can drive them off the lot on 35s.

You can spend less money on a Ford FX4 varriant than you would a TRD Pro. Toyota does not even offer a rock crawling drive mode. I doubt if you can do much rock crawling with a stock FX4.

Proper comparison is to a sr5. But the special edition is nearly as much as a pro anyways. But yea… “10k”

How in the world do you think it makes sense to compare a Pro to an SR5?

Exact same drive train on the auto V6. Trail edition SR5 adds the same rear locker, and taller ride height than the Pro. Same thing.

LOL. It's not the same thing. It doesn't have heated seats, leather, sunroof, skid plate, fox shocks, exhaust, etc.

For everyone saying the Pro is $10K more, please stop. It's 10K more than a basic Off Road, but add the packages to the OR to make it an equal comparison and that gap closes dramatically.

First up, a TRD OR with the packages required to match the equipment and features of the Pro.

    upload_2022-10-23_8-19-27.jpg

Here's the Pro's price breakdown That includes everything on the TRD OR that has been decked out plus the following

    1. Moon Roof
    2. Fox Suspension (includes lift for better approach/departure angles)
    3. TRD Upper Control Arms
    4. Heritage Grille
    5. Pro Wheels
    6. Pro branding EVERYWHERE

    upload_2022-10-23_8-25-51.jpg

That puts you to a difference of $3,186. Not an insignificant savings, sure. It's also nowhere near the $10,000 that is being claimed.

Now, for that price difference you can likely meet or exceed the suspension differences and have an equal or slightly better performing truck than the Pro, but do you know what you won't have? The value retention. That King/Icon/OME/Toytec/Falcon/Whatever suspension you put in your truck adds little to no value if you ever decide to trade, sell, or get into an accident and get paid out by insurance.

Is a TRD Pro overpriced? Hell yes, but so is a decked out TRD Off Road! If you are going to buy a luxed out truck, why not get the one that holds value better? You'll also get fun little Pro branding stuff and a moon roof out of the deal and the option for a flashy new color if you want.
