Right, so I don't understand why you're quoting me when you say it. Quote one of the other morons who are struggling with reason and logic.

I would suggest anyone considering both trucks go out and test a TRD Off Road and a TRD Off Road Premium. That'll let you feel the difference in the seat materials, and it gives you the baseline suspension to judge. Then, ask these 2 questions:
    1. Is cloth good enough for you, or do you want the leather/softex?
      • If cloth is good enough, move to question 2.
      • If you want the leather/softex, you need to recognize the packages that offer it in the TRD OR are going to eat up your savings vs the Pro. Proceed to question 2.
    2. Do you want/need more suspension plush than the billy's beans offer?
      • If the TRD OR suspension is adequate then you can readily add the majority of items to this trim and you may not need to spend Pro money.
      • If you want more cushion, pony up for the Pro or to mod. Neither one is gonna be cheap.
These are probably the two biggest differences that will be experienced every time you drive the truck. Answering the questions above may make all other considerations irrelevant, but if it doesn't you need to look at your own personal must have items.

    Moonroof? Only on the Pro.
6 ft bed? Only on the Off Road, and with either cab size.
Access Cab? Only on the Off Road. Pro is only the short box on a Double Cab.
Bed Stamp? Only the Pro is flashin' the tramp stamp.
Unique color? This year's Pro color usually winds up trickling down to TRD models next year. Solar Octane may be the exception if the next gen rolls out in '24 though.
BSM? Standard on the Pro. It can be added to the OR, but you're eating up that price gap. It's also SUPER involved if you try to add it yourself.
Cameras galore? Standard on the Pro. Again, can be added to the OR for a price.

This is the process that put me in search of the Pro. Must haves for me are LED headlights, BSM, Leather/Softex, parking sensors, and if possible no exterior chrome. Adding the leather, BSM, blackout package, and LED headlights put the price close enough that I am willing to splurge for the suspension and wheels. Also, I have a solidly equipped and modded SR5 Tundra to trade, and if I'm downsizing I wanted to upgrade the stock features at the same time. I'm sure others will go through the same process and take the OR to save money or because they plan to mod it out, but that's just not where I'm at with this situation.

It would be nice to buy something and not want to modify it. I could probably be good with a Pro Tacoma or 4Runner, might need to swap the tires.

I could go for a Nori Green GX 460. Still needs a lift and a set of Weds adventure hase specs and up size ATs, to look right.

Yeah, the thing that solidified it for me is that I don't want to do extreme mods. Just a small lift, slightly bigger tires, and some armor for stuff like Imogene Pass. Well, that also turned into oil change mods, wheels, a Dirty Deeds BAMuffler, and the like. By the time I looked and added it up, I could have bought a higher trim level with more features I wanted. So, hitting the reset button while my trade value is high and getting the truck I wanted when I bought my Tundra in the first place.

The Lexus looks pretty good, but I think I'd miss having a truck.

You can get the OR with or without the sunroof, you cannot delete it from the Pro though.

Valid points, however, it does cost about $10k to add all the OEM pro bits to an OR Premium if one wanted to “almost” turn their OR Premium into a Pro Clone (pre ‘22) OEM Pro headlights and Fox suspension alone is as bout $6k for new OEM

Ah, maybe a configuration issue. Does not show up for me as an option.

Everybody upgrades. The question is; How much do they upgrade? I'm going for a pro to keep mod costs down. I don't want wheels or suspension beyond what is stock, but I know I'll more than likely add some skids at a minimum. Possibly even add sliders.

    @50Buck

I'm in the same boat with my 2021 DCSB A/T Sport.

I may consider going with a slightly bigger more aggressive tire when the time comes: 265/70R17.

No sliders or heavy duty skids for me.

I'm considering a DB Tonneau cover but that's about the most expensive add-on.

I believe it's part of the TRD Premium package, along with the Softex seat material and heated seats.

Everybody? Hmmm, I suppose if you consider things like a cat shield, mud flaps, and floor mats "upgrades", then yeah, I suppose you are correct. If not, then many of us will not be upgrading anything on our Tacomas.

Bought the OR because I knew I'd be turning the "take the wife and kid to the ski hill/cottage for the weekend" stock vehicle into a useful for me work truck and knew I'd end up removing or not using/wanting the Pro bells and whistles. I couldn't get rid of the wallowing pig stock OR suspension fast enough.

If stock OR suits you buy it, if you want the bells and whistles of the Pro, buy it.

If you did not like the OR suspension, did you test drive the sport or the SR5...you may have liked their stock suspension better.

I guess we use the term differently; to me "upgrades" are more along the lines of suspension, tires, snorkels, gearing, and the like. A few cosmetics like floor mats are more like accessory items.

    Test drive? LOL

There is never an unsold truck on the lot. Everything arrives pre sold.

Previous truck was an 07 Sport with OME 886/Darkar HD. I wanted that planted ride.

Never? I had no problem finding a half-dozen or so trucks on lots within 50 miles of me which were not yet sold; that was back in February, looking around now I see over a dozen and expect that number to gradually grow.
