Just curious to see if anyone knows more about what the Trd pro has over the Trd off road?

I know the Trd pro comes with fox coil overs, skid plates, hood scoop , badges, and the cool colors. But is there anything I'm missing?

I'm considering buying the skid plates and fox shox when they become available. I would like to make a dclb Trd pro. i would like to get some feed back on this idea. Pro and cons/ other routes.

The pro's typically are just toyota bolt on's with standard warranty. There's is little to no reason to buy them.

The shocks are more for high speed high temp scenarios and are overkill for most of us. I'd rather just have a high quality setup with my choice of shocks/wheels/tires.

I like the idea of Fox 2.0s but would rather have Toytec/OME.

I hate BFG tires (which we can expect again if they dont sell them with the P metric goodyears), plus the stock size is too small.

That said I love the seats and the shifter of the Tundra Pro, but I would never buy one.

Ok that's what I figured. I like the looks of the Trd pro skid plate, but I doubt it's really all that tough.

I had fox 2.0 all around on my last Tacoma and I liked them a lot. At the same time I never did any high speed desert runs. So they could be an over kill.

My truck is going to be used as a daily driver, dirt bike hauler, weekend adventure rig/fishing/hunting/camping. And so far it's been very capable stock.

I just saw a pic of the 2017 Trd pro and the vision started from there.

What would be the best way to go to improve off-road ability but maintain the stockish height and ride?

I've heard that the Fox shocks need to be rebuilt every 10,000 miles on the Raptor.

Anyone know if this is the case with the TRD Pro?

I seem to remember reading something like that in the warranty on the fox 2.0s I bought for my last Tacoma. It was some thing like every 10k with heavy off road use and 15-20k with normal driving

(not sure if these numbers are exact)

Probably just a good set of larger tires would do wonders. Do these have 16 or 17 inch wheels? And possibly an addaleaf for the rear if they end up siting dead level or sag a big in the rear like it seems some of the current PRO's do.

That's what I was wondering. The Pro with it's Fox shocks and a set of 265/75/16 or 255/85/16 aggressive A/T tire would be a very capable and comfortable stock truck in my opinion.
It all depends how much of a markup they will be over the off road package if it's worth it or not.

Exactly the reason that you will see many of us 16 owners trade in on a 17 PRO

The Pro parts, just like the TX Baja suspension parts kit sold at some dealers for 2nd gens, will tend to be overpriced because you are paying Toyota's typical 300% parts markup. Just get Fox 2.5" coilovers today and you'll have better shocks than what the Pro will come with next year.

The Pro also has integrated fog lights made by Rigid.

Only reason to buy pro is leather seats with a stick shift. I wonder if Toyota is the only company in the recent future to have leather seats without power seats lol

I had a down payment on a 17 pro, definitely nice setup looking at the truck porn, but ended up with a OR 6MT after sitting down with my business hat and doing the math. Just couldn't swallow the 8-10k price difference from OR for badging, leather seats, led driving lights and suspension bits. Expect to pay 44-45k for the pro, supply/demand...

Yea I get that. But part of my deal when I bought my truck was when the Trd pro parts becom available that they would sell them to me at 20% off. So when they do I'll some shopping and see what I can get the best deal on.

    Two points to consider:
    1. You can get a TRDOR for $2-$3k below MSRP, while the Pro will be an MSRP+ situation for years to come. Factor this into the price differential
    2. You can add Pro parts to a TRDOR, but you won't recoup any of this cost on resale unless you part it out

Short of certain high-$ German and Italian cars, I've rarely seen these "limited editions" end up being worth their initial price premium after considering resale value. The Gen 2 Pro was kind of a bust, although the Gen 3 obviously ups the ante (and likely price).
