    Wow. I like to run 16s but those new ones are terrible looking. The T4R 17s look great.

    Yea I thought that too. But coming from a base model 2.7 4x4 I think the crawl control is pretty cool and works well. I went up a hill climb in my old truck that required a lot of speed and wheel spin to make it. In my 3rd gen I just put it in crawl control and it made it up with absolutely no wheel spin.

    Just look at the build thread
    I wouldn't really call those "more serious-looking rings". They're real, functional bead locks. Way more than just some good looking rings. Completely fucking drool worthy.

    Wait, how does its size and weight factor in? Have you compared wheelbase, approach and departure angles? There's more to it than 2 dimensions. You could be the shittiest driver in an ultra 4 and go no where.

    The new truck is a dclb. It's way longer and wider. It weighs a lot more too. I bet it's just as capable, but the trails I drive are over grown and full of trees and debris. So the 1st gen has the advantage there. And I wasn't afraid to scratch the 1st gen.

    When we bought our TRD Pro wheels, I asked about warranty at our dealer. The manager came out and told us all Add on parts bought through them come with 12/12,000 warranty or unless the balance of the factory warranty is more, so in our case our wheels came with the remainder of the Toyota 36/36,000. He did not specify and I did not ask about who has to install it. I'm lucky though because the dealership is small town and has a military base nearby that apparently buys 4x4s as fast as they get them. The employee parking area is full of lifted modified Toyotas. They seem to understand these trucks. They even tested the 265/70/17 wheels out to make sure they don't rub before I picked it up.

    None of that means anything when you come in with blown shocks and and undercarriage packed with mud. Stories of dealers saying no to warranty on vehicles that have been wheeled are all over this site. The dealer doesn't have to warranty items that have been abused. It's right in the warranty contract.

    If all your comparing is diameter, it's decent upgrade but it's not on the level of a triple bypass over an emulsion shock.

    A 2.5 inch shock will have somewhere around 40% more fluid than a 2.0 allowing better heat dissipation and extending shock life in heavy use situations before you have fade. Fade leads to bottoming out which can damage the internals.

    I doubt in any scenario the TRDOR is as capable as a Pro. The Pro, Toyota gives you extended travel shocks front and rear. That alone is an upgrade over the OR. Pro also they take care of the little things like brake line extensions, proper bumpstops to allow full articulation, tuned to the Tacoma so it works onroad and off.

    I wouldn't pay full price for a Pro, but I'd happily pay $1600 for the OEM suspension package as an upgrade to an OR.

    I put the OEM Baja suspension on my 2012 SR5 for $1550, that was a nice system. Pro won't make 33's fit easier and no other lift can either, despite all the bro's proclaiming how their lifts fitted 33's in no problem.

    All I would do is put a Hellwig helper spring on the rear leafs, 990 for $130 to handle loads and a trailer tongue weight.

    Pros still get stock UCAs... travel is still fairly limited by that.

    For 2k you can have a system that blows the Baja shocks away and won't leak like everything from billi does.

    I swear I've seen this argument before :p.

    The Pro is a nice truck but I wouldn't waste time throwing Pro OEM parts on an offroad. That money could go towards much better equipment like the new BP-51 system that are rebuildable and adjustable. Tons of options out there. Really the Pro is great for folks who don't mind spending extra money for a pre-built truck with warranty. More power to those folks. If you're going to wheel a lot though I wouldn't count on that warranty at all.

    I agree with the mud part, although I wouldn't think most people would be bright enough to clean their vehicle after they pack it with mud. However, I would say taking a vehicle labeled off road, off road would be within the scope of use. I would support a dealer not providing warranty for an obviously abused vehicle. Either way we'll probably never know since only a small percentage of the current trucks and especially Pro models will ever see any serious off road use. Especially during the relatively short Toyota warranty period. Like most forums, many people only join once they have a problem or get hosed by a dealer. Many happy customers Who receive good service never come on.

    The TRD Pro will have a TRD exhaust. I imagine it will be available as an add on after the Pro is released.

    Agreed. However if the argument to get a pro over building up a TRD OR is the warranty... well people are going to be disappointed. Buy the Pro if you don't care about the cost and want the look. Otherwise it's a hard sell.

    BTW I have no problem with anyone who buys a Pro either. To each their own and I'll happily welcome any members who buy one no matter what the reason. They don't have to justify their own personal purchases to anyone.
