Expressing an opinion is not being a Hater. Jeeezzz.

I like the Taco Pro but $40k??? I would like to have one but I am having issues with the price based upon what you are getting.

But to those who have already have one,..congrats!

Agreed!! What matters is that you get what you want. That's where the value is...not everyone else's opinions. We earn money to buy things we want. If I hadn't bought my '14, I probably would have paid what it took the get a '15 Pro.

    Nice truck OP!!

Well said. Value is about what YOU perceive it, not others. I would get the PRO as well if I am buying a NEW Taco.

well considering you pay around 33 or 34 for a offroad or sport double cab,, then consider the upgraded suspension, shocks, lift, rims, and a set of 1000.00 tires, and having something that isnt seen alot, its not that much more money,, everyone loves my truck, says it looks awesome,, and i really love the black,, was going to find a orange one, but glad i got the black one,, guy ask me today where i got it undercoated,, said it came like that.. look under one if you have the chance,, awesome

For me, the Pro offered everything I wanted. Everything was color matched, hood scoop, and the TRD OR stuff as well. Factor in also the Nav, lift, exhaust....It was worth the extra couple thousand to have it all under warranty. That and I really love the grill lol

I'm not sure he needs to.

But for reference, his truck HAS a supercharger. So he might be 1-up on you...

I agree it was a lot of money for a mid size truck. I had an F150 before this one and it was a lot of money. Had a few issues with it. Toyota is a Toyota and should last a long time! Spending the money for a badass truck up front will pay off at 100k when its still under warranty and they fix my whatever broke. Plus its a very cool color!

to each their own, and no worries on my end. love the debate though!

Like I said from my post man. In general for any car for me right now that was just too much too spend. Even what I paid for my TRD Sport I thought was a little much, but you're right it's a Toyota and they are reliable.

I like the TRD Pro. and as long as you like it then its all good.

what interest rates have you been getting for your pros? i was offered a 4.3 and it seems too high for a new vehicle with a 700+ credit

I was getting 16 w/o SC, got 14 with.. the only gains you get is past 3k rpms which is also when it sucks gas down, plus you have to run premium.

Thanks that was my point. You can also look at EPA numbers of vehicles with and without a supercharger and see they are rated worse as well.

If you get a supercharger though, I doubt gas mileage is of a major concern so go ahead and do it if you want it.

I know I would get worse gas mileage because I probably couldn't help myself what the extra power and have my foot on that go pedal little harder

Many of us who have installed SCs have seen a slight increase in MPGs.
It's about efficiency. Basically you're getting more torque at lower RPMs so the need to get into the HP at the higher RPMs is not there. The increase in air allows the engine to more efficiently burn the available fuel rather than dumping fuel and it not getting full burn due to lack of oxygen.

Not true either. That would be a more accurate statement if you installed a turbo as a turbo is dependent on the exhaust to drive the compressor where a SC is driven by a pulley. But due to dual vain turbos this less an issue than ever before.

Now if you keep your foot in it all the time, with both a turbo or SC, you'd likely see a decrease in MPGs. But that would be true even w/o a turbo or SC.

There's a ton of info here on the site if you do some searching about the superchargers.

My only factors are that I never changed my driving habit, I don't floor it anywhere, I let the AT shift under 2k rpms and run 70 on the highway. My work commute is 22 miles one way, about 40% city, 60 highway. Average was 16ish, dropped to 14ish with the SC.

You can say look up this or look up that all day long, the real world numbers speak for themselves.

Really like the Pro's. When they offer them with a better engine option, world class manual, and factory tow, I'll be standing in line…...

Thanks everyone for your comments and (debate) on behalf of my original question re pros/cons of SC...Been insightful, but question is also whether there are any other effects/impacts beyond MPG and fuel costs...:) Thanks!

Swapping spark plugs is a pain, change snout oil every 100k or so, more expensive spark plugs.. all I can think of really. There really isn't much more maintenance.

Driving 4.5 hours averaging ~80mph my SC got just a smidge under 20mpg. My truck came with it so I don't have a comparison, but there are plenty of trucks on here getting much less than that and do not a SC. I'm planning on going with bigger tires next time around, so that's when I expect to see mpg suffer.

Anyways, on topic, TRD Pro is awesome. I would buy one if in the market for a new brand new truck. I see more Raptors than basic Tacomas, so I know seeing a Pro will be rare. Did see a Chevy Reaper today though...
