I stand corrected. I have been around a lot of powdercoated items since 1998 or so... I have never saw powder scratch, chip, flake like this coating on the oem TRD pro plate. terrible adhesion. Ski

mass production, corporate cost cutting and people will buy it regardless, not to mention > 90% (maybe 99%) of these skids won’t see anything more than a parking lot curb. :p

Scratches on a skid plate show your mechanic you have a set and your not a mall crawler. I’d wear it with as a badge of honor

Largely stock at the moment. ARE Overlander bed cap. Much more to come as budget and workshop access permit.
Honestly, I would not bother worrying about scratches on an aluminum skid unless you are entering it in a car show, or trade show... That said, my favorite finish for bumper, skids, sliders, etc. is Al's Liner bedliner, though last year I found a jeep accessory company who has taken to making aluminum skids and attaching UHMW panels to the aluminum. The UHMW keeps the skids light weight and has a good low friction allowing them to slide on things what would normally leave us turtled. I am considering making my own for my tacoma if I can find materials at a reasonable price.

I installed a Miller Cat shield on my 2025 Tacoma, and yes, I wanted the cat shield to match the color of the OEM TRD Skid plate. The closest over-the-counter, inexpensive color match with texture was from Home Depot.
