Hi, here's my first post. I have a 2012 TRD sport double cab with 6 feets bed that has a minimal lift spacers lift 1.5 front and 1 rear. I just came back from a trip to our cabin and the places where the dirt road was a bit loose, when it became bumpy the rear end of the truck wants to slip on the right side, the feeling is not fun at all and can't get over 80kmh because i can realy lose it.... The tire are oversized a bit on 16 inches rim, General Tire Grabber A/T2 265/75r16. I had over 300 pounds in the bed at that time....

A shop that i've contacted told me about axle wrap, but the symptoms i found here on the forum are not close to what i experienced....

Thank you for your advice !

What was your tire PSI? Sounds like the age-old "too fast for conditions" situation.

I will check this out after work. But what's strange, my previous truck as the same but not TRD, just the entry level (double cab, 6 feets bed, non trd) with 2.5 front and 2 rear, and i was going 100kmh on the same road whitout that feeling, evreything was stable and stuck to the road...

Hard to say it's safe to travel that fast on any dirt road. But good luck.

It's a large dirt road for oversized log truck, not that bad. At 80kmh, i was getting passed by other trucks ;) My point is there'S sometthing different/wrong that i didn't have with my previous 2012 double cab non-trd :(

Hmm... that is odd. Any VSC lights/warnings on the dash?

No light in the dash, everything seems normal.

The truck was sold on april 2012, original shocks, 68k km on the vehicule

    enough to go over stuff
Tire pressure to high would be my first guess. Second is the spacers and blocks are causing a harsher ride and increasing axle rap under a 300 pound load.

Like stated, spacers, and old ass shocks are your cause for issues. And lower your psi and you will be amazed!

2 in spacer lift front 2, in AAL rear [tundra leaf] , flip up tow mirrors, ARE shell electric brake controller and cooper ATP 265/r70x16 tires on stock TRD wheels
Washboard road + high tire pressure +poor shocks = wheel hop which = side slip which = 'oops' Solution softer, tire better shocks, lower speed or run 4 wheel drive even if you don't need it for traction.

the 2012 Sport had the e-LSD rear end on it and does tend to get a little interesting on gravel. I think I would have preferred a standard old LSD rear end.

yes, i got 2.5 inches front puck and 2 inches rear block on my previous tacoma, it was very stable. Yes my current tacoma was properly aligned, and verified again last week, everything was in the green but the front wheel has a bit of positive camber (but still in the green).

I came from the old "posi" to this new one and it seems like some times when it engages the back end does brake loose.. but only under high speed dirt road runs it might be what is causing the issue.

    Fucking look it up
Lower tire pressure and slow down no reason for doing 60 mph with a stock truck in the dirt get a real lift with decent off road shocks that can handle the dirt lower your psi and you'll be fine

Yeah i might need to slow down a bit, but my previous truck was handling it perfectly ;)

Thank you for all your answers, i'm surprised how quick you were to answer.

Things that are different that would contribute: shocks are different. Wheel size and tire are different (16" vs 17").

What about the load in the truck (including passengers)? About the same as last time?

OrangeTexan, load about the same. Info to add, when i had my ATV in my trailer 3 weeks ago, i didn't notice that slippery. I had like 300 pounds in the bed + a trailer with 600 pounds in it....
