For those of us that have put on the Sport vinyls, at what point in the process did you guys use a heat gun or hair dryer? I was able to get good coverage of the wheels without having to heat up and stretch the vinyl at all. I just used a hair dryer at the end after I had applied all the vinyls to the wheel and pressed down on everything to make sure it was on there good. It all looks good to me but want to make sure I didn’t miss a step.

If you take your time and apply them following the directions and tips they will last a long time. Guy with off-road has had his on almost a year. Off roading. Mud. Pressure washing them weekly and no issues.

For the sports you don’t have to stretch! I made them with overlap so heating them at the to help have them adhere is an awesome idea.

Install went well this past weekend. Messed up a couple of the decals but luckily I ordered some extras. The Sport wheels look a lot better with the vinyl decals on them! Thanks @PikestacoSister @Pikestaco !

sorry video is down for now. need to make a better one. it was too dark and someone said you can read my CC number on it. (i used my CC to push down vinyl). i thought i had covered it, but don't want to take chances.

Not the best video but at least somewhat shows how easy it is to install these.

    Tips
    - Clean those rims as good as you can. I used rapid tac to clean. I had bought it to try wet application and hated the wet method. So I just use it to clean the rims now.
    - gloves help a ton. Get some cheap latex or nitrile gloves.
    - BE PATIENT. If you want these to last. Take your time. You can pull and place back until you really push the vinyl down. So make sure it’s in the right spot before you start rubbing it into the spot for good.
    - once you line up the vinyl at the “armpit” area, you should be good to go. You’ll find that sweet spot after the first couple and the rest should be much easier.
    - rotate the tires by rolling truck forward or back. Always have it at the top. Makes it 10000000x easier. I tried one without this and tore it off because it’s just that much harder to see.

Reason for video not being perfect is
    - I didn’t have someone to help film so my phone was set up on top of some paper towels
    - I was in our parking garage. Light isn’t great. (Highly recommend not doing it in bad lighting. Plays tricks on your eyes. Makes you think there is chrome showing but it’s just light reflection)
    - busy week before trip for spring break. But wanted to get it done so you guys have at least something to help with install

Would it be easier if we took the wheel off and put it on a work bench or flat surface? Would be more work to take them off and put them back on, but you don’t have to keep moving your truck to get the new surface on the top. You also get a much better look at your entire wheel.

100%. If you have easy access to lifting truck up and taking wheels off that would be much easier for sure.

I'm going to have to remember this thread this weekend.. definitely gotta watch it so I can check my finances and do some purchasing!

I know I won't be able to do anything with them for awhile anyways.. It's technically spring tomorrow, but we're getting hit with another huge storm Weds.. joy, lots more snow! But I've been wanting to do something with my wheels for forever.. this is perfect!

I don't think taking the wheel off is necessary at all. Really wasn't a big deal to move the truck back and forth a few feet after installing a couple. I was doing it at night in my garage with no problem. I seemed to have to best luck getting a quick fit when the area I was working on was on the top but slightly tilted to the right. But I think each person will have a method that works best for them. The fact that you can keep pulling the vinyls off and readjusting them until they fit right takes a lot of pressure off the process. Certain ones would fit perfectly on the first lay-down while others would take a bit more adjusting, but once you do a couple the remainder are much easier. I noticed whenever I would get impatient and try to rush is when it would take longer to get the right fit. So patience is key but it will pay off. And the process gets more fun the more of them you get on as you see how the appearance of the wheel is changing which is really cool.

You can also jack up the end of the truck you are working on and spin the tire to the desired position.
