Hey guys, I've been looking to pick someone's brain about swapping suspension on my 2021 TRD Sport. My goal is for a bit of a less teeth rattling drive on gravel and minor off roading, since my truck is still my daily, around 40 miles per day round trip to work I don't want to go too crazy. Also I want to go up to 33s around the same time I do suspension. I spend a lot of time in the mountains of NC on the weekends and I'm tired of my back killing me after driving on old forest roads. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Entry level kits like Eibach and Bilstein will have a positive affect on your suspension.

I went with went with the Eibach Pro-Truck Coil overs on my Sport. The suspension still has a good firm response to the initial bump but the recovery from the bump is so much better than the Hitachi's that came on the truck. I really think the Hitachi's were solid rods to make them cheaper!!!

As for 33"'s, I went 31.5's and rub... so I can't help you there.

I currently air down to around 22-25 when I'm spending time off road but I live on a 1/2 mile gravel driveway that's rutted to hell (landlord) won't fit it, so every day it feels like I drive a forklift to the house

Thanks for the info! I feel the same exact way, I have no idea why Toyota felt like that sport suspension was a good idea. Even on hard pavement changes on the highway the suspension sucks

Probably less than 300 pounds. Bed rack, tent, awning, and recovery gear. I basically live out of that thing from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon during the warmer months.

300# that’s nothing. A cap would add a nice little amount of preload but ya, I guess stiff shocks dont help.

Yes it is, had cars all my life but since I spend so much time outdoors I knew it was time for a truck. I've owned everything from accords to outbacks to crotch rockets

A truck is set up different than a passenger vehicle, there is only so much you can reasonably do for, example it will never ride like an Escalade. Regardless, you can get high profile tires 75-80 vs a 70-65 and run them with lower pressure. Also get passenger tires, avoid truck tires e.g., E loads.

You can get softer springs but then the truck can wallow under load and in the turns. There are adjustable coilovers/shocks. I run mine soft.

I swapped out my hitachis for an OME setup and am ver pleased with it. Nitrocharger shocks, 887 coils, and full leaf pack replacement.

I went with TRD Pro Fox for this reason, but any Fox Performance Reservoir shock with external bypass will be even better.

The Sport suspension was conceived for buyers who spend about 99.9% of their time on pavement. I spend the majority of the time on pavement, but Bay Area California roads are just like driving off road with all the potholes, ruts and cracks. We have some of the most poorly maintained roads in the country.
