I remember someone on this forum stated that the TRD Sport tacoma was a waste of money. I could never find out why they felt that way. Can someone share their perspective on this topic

    Thanks

Just depends on your needs. TRD Sport is just better suited for urban driving although it is really capable off road.

If you do serious off roading then the offroad has 4x4 and an added rear locker. While most won't use it ever if you live somewhere like colorado the locker is a valuable asset in the mountains especially

I do personally like mine and the scoop too (albeit fake) but really the research I did here before buying about the seats plus I really like the paint matched mirrors with signals as well as door handles etc. Yea the black looked ok on the other models but the sport fits my lifestyle and cosmetically jumped out of the pack of other models. TRD stickers eh.... can live with or without them. Personally I would do what I did which is stare at all your choices and drive all of them then pull the trigger on your favorite.

if you do serious off roading (and plan ahead), you'll get the sport that has a stronger rear end than the off road, and put an aftermarket locker in it. then again, if you do serious off roading, it really doesn't matter what you start with, because everything is upgradable.

How is the sport rear end different than the offroad rear end?

It's been a month since I bought my TRD Sport 4x4. Love it. I have it in black. The reason I got the sport is because of the color matching exterior and the scoop. Its well worth it in my opinion.
