So I finally talked my parents into getting a Tacoma soon. The truck will be for my mother. She is coming from a BMW 328I with x drive. She likes the TRD sport looks but wants to get it with all the tech packages and all the fancy stuff. I just want to know what would be best for her. Where she lives our winters bring salt and chemicals on the roads which ruins chrome and plastic chrome. So I'm leaning towards the sport. Also would like to know what would be a good price for one.

Sport is cheaper and you can get everything in the limited minus the leather seats and Homelink mirror at the top of my head.

If you can find a 2016 on a lot that has 2017 also, you may be able to swing a better deal on the 16. The only change is power rear sliding window.
As far as which one to get, I highly suggest test drive both, as the scoop may be a distraction for some drivers. If you get the P&T package on the sport you have pretty much everything the limited has. If you want leather seats your options are Limited or Pro.
There is a master price list on here that will give you a good idea of what to expect. There are numerous factors, 2wd or 4wd, running boards, carpet floor mats or all weather mats, led bed lights, etc.

Just a question if you don't mind: Why did you feel it was necessary to "convince" your parents to get a Tacoma? Why is it going to be your moms car and not your Dads? My wife drives a BMW and she absolutely hates driving my truck as it won't "do what she wants it to do" on the road.

the suspension is also different btwn the two...the sport has a stiffer suspension, IIRC

I was torn between the Limited and the Sport as well. What I found is if you add the prem/tech package with JBL and add either Clazzios or Katzkin installed leather you get really close to a similar equipped Limited on price (as long as the Limited does not have a TON of additional ons). I liked the scoop though on the Sport (thought it gives more character and aggressive look), preferred the feel of the sport suspension vs the Limited and wasnt crazy on the brown leather on Limited but did like the 18 inch wheels. I ended up deciding on the Sport and will add Clazzio leather seat covers. Going this route saved me around $1,500. The scoop bothers some while driving but doesn't bother me. I would test drive both to see what you think.

If you don't care for the prem/tech package with JBL you will save thousands going with the Sport. I wanted all that stuff though and imo if you are going to spend that much on a new truck you should get the add ons you want.

If you are anywhere near a 5-6 hour drive to Atlanta you need to call Kevin Echols at AutoNation. He got me $4,100 off MSRP on a 2016 TRD Sport 4x4 with prem/tech/JBl package. The guy is awesome to work with and he will give you a price that is aggressive up front without even having to negotiate. He puts his best foot forward and doesn't play games. If you are looking at the 2017's he can get you 3k off MSRP as long as it is equipped with the prem/tech/jbl package.

No one around here in Tennessee could even come close to what he was able to get me. Hope this helps.

When I purchased my TRD Sport, I wrestled with the same decision. I really liked the scoop, and really disliked the leather interior. So, I purchased the TRD Sport, purchased a set of take-off limited rims (which I wanted), and installed the homelink mirror for just a few bucks. My truck has the JBL package too. I think the ride difference between the two is negligible as well. Bottom line....I got EXACTLY what I wanted for a great price and absolutely love the truck. This is my 5th Tacoma.

limited only comes in hickory leather, if you don't like that color go with a sport where you can choose different interior colors.

that will be the biggest difference between the two imo.

that was the deal breaker for the warden.

I dumped my BMW for a Limited and couldn't be happier. I love the "Softex" seats, Homelink/Auto-dimming mirror and the JBL package (2015 model). For me, it's a lot easier to "de-chrome", then add the other stuff. YMMV

You can always add leather to the TRD Sport. I don't know why the USA doesn't get the Homelink in the TRD models. I have a TRD Sport in Canada and it comes with the homelink.

Another consideration for me was that I bought BBP, and I didn't care for the combination of the Hickory Leather. I am SO happy with the grey fabric seats. I'm not a big fan of leather, but to each his own.....

Be prepared to be wrote out of your parents will if you talk them into buying a Tacoma pickup right now.

Maybe they should look at the Honda Ridgeline...

Looks like they got a 2017 limited with everything. Traded in their 2013 BMW and she loves it. But I got to drive it the hour and a half the way home and all I got to say is damn it's a lot different than my 09

A lot better. I was actually shocked on how amazing it drove also how quiet it is inside... makes me want one now haha. But I think a cummins will be better for hauling snowmobiles and also getting fire wood
