WTF? When's the last time you rode in a Cadillac? The Taco leaves much to be desired in terms of on-road comfort. Hell, the seat adjustment alone takes you back to the nineties and the suspension hasn't changed since 2005.

I think it's all relative. My truck rides like a Cadillac compared to my last car (Matrix)

I grew up with Cadillacs, owned 5 Tacos and currently own an Offroad, the suspension in the offroad is extremely comfortable. If all you know is the suspension in your Sport then you need to try an Offroad
They are very comfortable when compared to any of the previous trucks.

    Seat comfort is not suspension.

I'll agree with you on the somewhat muted harshness experienced in the off-road over the sport (stock format), but c'mon a Cadillac it's not; not even close.

I never claimed the seat was a suspension component, but the seat is in fact suspending your ass and makes a huge difference in what you feel in the ride.

Maybe my icon suspension is still a much rougher ride than the Bilsteins on your stock off-road, but it doesn't compare to my old Tunra or Silverados(still falling short) in terms of Cadillac comfort. Agree to disagree, complacency in Tacoma comfort doesn't translate into crossing the line of luxury standards. The ride comfort is acceptable, needs some getting used to (seat height/pitch occasional back slap).

But then again, a cadillac isn't going to keep up with me or share the same cabin comfort off road.

Do you like non-functional hood-scoops or functional electronic locking differentials?

Is the OR worth it over the Sport if you get the manual transmission? You don't get MTS or Crawl Control with the manual OR option so whats the benefit really? Just the suspension? You could get a Sport M/T and gain color keyed bumper/fender flares, and hood scoop (if you like that).

No idea what your point is... I think you agree the Offroad suspension is more compliant than the Sport, not sure if your Icon setup is preferred to a stock Bilstein for comfort and you seem to really be upset to a Cadillac comparison.

Regardless my OR setup has been extremely comfortable as a daily driver and offroad truck, so much that it hasn't required a change to make it "Better". It's been great right out of the box.

Buy the sport, it's what you're trying to justify to yourself by removing those tangibles from the OR to feel better about it.

    BINGO!

Manual was a must for me as was Double Cab. For the same (or very close) price I could go sport and get a non-functional scoop or OR and get a functional locking diff. It was an easy choice and I also like the look of the black fender flares on my superwhite taco.

FWIW, I had a scoop on my WRX, but it was feeding a top mount intercooler - no such luck on the Taco.

Yeah it's a tough one. I wish I could just get a TRD Pro. That's a good mix of Sport and Off-Road features, but those are damn expensive and hard to come across.

I've decided on the Sport myself. For one, there are only Sports available near me in the M/T and color I want. I did find an Inferno OR that I like but I'd have to drive 200 miles to get it and I like the Blazing Blue Pearl just as much and I can have the dealer do a trade for that one. Another reason is I like the color keyed body work and hood scoop of the Sport. I think it looks fantastic in BBP. I also see many Sports off-roading anywhere an OR can go. To me, the only real benefit to the OR is the rear locker. I don't anticipate ever seriously doing off-road so that isn't really a concern for me. I'm also looking the manual transmission which doesn't come with MTS or Crawl Control. If I were getting an automatic there might be more of a difference because then you can get all of those features plus the color keyed rear bumper in the OR trim.

another thing with the sport is that in the auto it still has the smaller rear end without the lsd.
i got the sport because id never go off road enough to need the crawl control. the rear locker would have been nice for our winters.

biggest reason a lot of us canadians got stuck with the sport as our only reasonable choice is because toyota canada never offered us the off road in a double cab. only off road options were an access cab with a short box.

i do wish i waited for 2017 to get a double cab off road but honestly the only thing i really wish i got was the manual transmission.

as most people said each truck suits peoples needs differently. sure the crawl control is nice but im sure 75 percent of the people who have it will never really need it. the offroad does have more bang for buck options.

Sounds like you are more confused than a New Jersey Housewife.

Sport is the right one for you. Leave the OR/PRO for the rest of us

    You need the sport.

OR/PRO doesn't need convincing. Those of us know what we need, we buy those. For the confused, Sport is that best. Good luck.

Yes please buy the sport, as I now have mine, I wouldn't mind see the demand drive the price up some.

Lets get real here, if you are not doing "Major" off-roading, then the sport is fine, in fact from what I have seen if you are doing "major" off-roading then the Off Road with mods is what you need.

What one do you like sitting in and driving, what one makes you happy...

    Wait-for-it-wait-for-it.jpg

    THEN BUY THAT ONE!

SR and SR5 is fine for 99.99% of Taco owners. Thats the fact.

Sport/Limited/OR/PRO are just luxuries for us first world people, who don't offload 1% of what the Taliban does in their 20 year old 2wd trucks, yet we want to pretend we are all world class expeditioners, when in reality we just go to Costco on the weekends.
