Crawl control when you play in the sand is pretty awesome though. It is literally impossible to get the truck stuck. Sink it to the diffs, activate crawl control, put in reverse, and watch the onlookers shit themselves.

Only works on scratches that aren’t too deep (surface cosmetic). Just be careful not to get too close with the heat or you will change the black to gray. Shine em up after

Yeah they are just cosmetic pinstripes. Thanks for the tip

Propane torch can work even better if your careful with it. Used it on my atv plastic.

Agreeing with others in regards to the Offroad being a better value, right out of the box. It really does great off-road.

I heavily considered the sport myself, just to get the 6' bed without the DCLB wheelbase. (I'm still kinda pissy that they don't offer the access cab MT in the offroad trim)

Then again, if you're doing the typical mods down the road anyway, likely if on this forum, the sport could be the better option.

And someone else can either correct me or verify, I don't believe the Sport 4x4 includes A-TRAC. Pretty much the manual version of crawl control. And yes, it works awesome in the sand.

Are off roads really a better value? I think it depends on what you value. To me it was, but someone who doesn't off road might disagree. People dump lots of money into cosmetic upgrades.

A bigger rear diff was enough for me. I want that HD back end for towing and long term use

Fair point. It really does depend on what you're going for with the truck. I find it a good value, because there are exclusive features from the factory that I'll actually use.

Plus with the TRD OR you can make it almost a TRD Pro..... ; )
I did add OVTune, TRD CAI, TRD Pro exhaust, 17” FN Pro wheels, Nitto G2’s, Bilstiens 5100’s....all thanks to TW, i.e. bank account decimater....
A moon roof was a must have for me though.

    For reference.
I was looking to buy the Sport.
I went to test drive it. Nice.
    Saw the TRD OR.
    Test drove it.
TRD OR was a much better smoother ride. Bumps dampened out better. More features.
    Bought a TRD OR.
Got it $3,500 below MSRP, from a Toyota Truck Master in Columbus, Ohio. Bought 2 there. One in 2016, Hurricane Harvey got that one. Went back and got a QS 2017. I’m in Houston, Dean beat anyone in Texas by $2500:

I looked at Sport, Off Road and Pro. To me Off Road was the sweet spot: it gave me the wide availability and relative affordability of Sport, with the off-road capability I wanted, without paying for silly embroidery and voodoo colors or having to play games with the dealer.

I do like Pro’s looks the best, but most of it are cosmetic pieces that can be found on Amazon for a fraction of the price.

That's why I agree the OR is a better value than the Sport.

In the end, I rarely offroad, never tow, and love the looks of the Sport and got a good deal on the color I wanted so I'm happy. I do wish I had that bigger rear diff, though.

I ended up with a sport even though I would have preferred the OR but I needed the DCLB. Canada has no OR with the LB.

It is a cool feature, but if you break anything doing that you are on your own. Numerous guys have had no warranty coverage breaking stuff getting unstuck.
