As someone who has had to use a locker on some otherwise pretty average BLM roads while out hunting, there are conditions where it is very useful - specifically, if you end up with one of your rear tires in the air (IE - crossing over a rutted road) while driving up a steep or muddy hill.

If you're not doing that type of stuff, it's probably not very useful for you. Then again, if you're not doing that kind of stuff, 4x4 probably isn't exactly needed either, except for maybe snow & sand.

Ya that's a good point. I could see that being the case down South. Here in the PNW the opposite is true for Sport vs OR for the KBB values.

I hear you re: the trade values. The dealership I bought my truck from has offered me a lot to buy back my truck. Insane

It's just like launch control. Not needed but I'll take all the tools available

    Launch control?

On a side note - I'll agree CC is a gimmic. It works, but it doesn't do anything competent throttle control & MTS (a-trac) can't accomplish.

Yeah, more opportunities to go off road in that part of the country, so I could definitely see the OR being popular out there. Around here, the 2wd SR5 is probably the most common Tacoma I see.

Thing is, a skilled driver can always outbrake an anti-lock brake system. The only reason they made them is for panic'd drivers who try to put their foot through the floor with adrenaline to stop faster...

Not needed anymore but when I first started like you said for beginners it really helped.

Never say never. Better to have and not need.

Doesn't the Sport come with the 8.4 ring gear? Also with bridged bearing caps there by making it stronger than the TRD 8" ring gear w/o the bridged bearing caps?

does the AC drain mod count?
Especially if you buy a manual which gives you low range gears. Buying a manual also lets you avoid the endless transmission problems I read about on this forum...

This is straight up bewildering to me. If I wanted a 4 door passenger vehicle with a big trunk I'd get an outback (which you can sleep in unlike a DCSB), and if I wanted a truck with a 6 foot bed and crew space I'd get a full size.
