I'd get the 4x4 trd off road for the e locker. If money wasn't a problem, I'd probably consider a basic 4x4 because, if I was to stick in a hq aftermarket e locker, install a nice suspension lift, tires etc, there wouldn't be as much of a point in paying for the upgraded suspension when I'm going to upgrade it even more anyways.

*I don't know that much about the trd packages, so further info may sway me somewhat*

I love my LB Sport. I use my extra 13"'s of bed much more than I would use a locker.. That being said, a locker and the shorter wheel base would own for trail guys.

Yeah - I kinda wish I would have gotten the LB. I really like my 2010 DBL CAB 4x4 Sport SB - and really haven't needed the extra 13" of bed. But for $500 more I kinda wish I had the longer bed.

I like the idea of FRONT and Rear lockers.
I wanted to find a used Tacoma with the A-Trac system, but I looked and looked and looked for over a year and barely found any 4x4 Tacomas with Off Road package. All of the Off Road trucks out here in Southern California were priced WAY above Blue Book and I just couldn't justify over paying. I got lucky and found my used truck at a Ford Dealership. The previous owner has removed the TRD Off Road Stickers and the dealership just wanted the Toyota off their Ford lot. I ended up getting the truck for $3200 under private party blue book.

I am extremely happy with my Off Road. I actually use it for going Off Road and have used my locking rear differential to get me unstuck several times now.

I don't understand why people would want the color keyed rear view mirrors if they take their truck off road though. The black plastic is a LOT less likely to show the scratches from the trail than the painted mirrors.

I love everything about my Sport. I live in northeast Ohio and don't have many options for off roading. The long bed was a must for me, I do a bit of woodworking and a bed any shorter would have made it a bit more difficult to get sheet good form one place to another. Besides I personally think the double cab with the short bed looks a bit odd. Again just me! We get plenty of snow here, maybe not as much as the northwest and there was a time I said I never owned a 4x4 and got around fine - well now that I have one I get around better and go where I would not have before. I love the color match trim. Just need to get my black mesh grill with custom badges and I'll be done - my wife said. SNL's Fernando said it best "It's better to look good than to feel good".

Never had a truck before. What I needed was a car with a bed on it. I was hopeful that Pontiac would bring the G8 based car/truck (a al 'el camino') back but the plans got scrapped and, soon after, the company did, too. I don't care for truck 'handling' nor do I leave the pavement for funsies. An open bed trumps all car trunks and that was all I wanted along with a comfortable ride and respectable power/acceleration. Frankly, the Frontier had a better engine/tranny combo for what I was after but the rest of the truck's cabin sucked eggs. Seating sucked, control layout, blah.

anyway..(I digress) .. needed as close to a car as I could get. Taco was it. ...and...I'm a tuner kind of guy so appearance is important. I like the color-keyed stuff (hate the black trim over the wheel wells) and have no use for 4 wheel drive (never needed it before; been driving for 27 years) and the scoop looks great on the truck and as viewed from the driver's seat. I could have gotten any iteration of the truck I wanted. TRD sport was the choice for me. Also, the nearly 50/50 split shows that Toyota has appropriately covered the potential buying market.

I wouldn't need to repeat the 'wonders of A-TRAC' if people would already know how it works... ;) There are new Tacoma World members all the time and old ones who still haven't been enlightened to the glory of the A-TRAC :D

So I ask you brother, "Have you found A-TRAC?":)

The hood scoop is clearly not in their viewing range... Put the same camera in a Sport Taco and that scoop would be in the video, dead center.

I've love my TRD Sport 4X4, the locker would be nice, but I don't need to be gettin her in those types of situations. A little off road don't hurt!

    That is good...

When I test drove a Sport, the hood scoop was the first thing I noticed in my view of the road ahead for when I would be climbing and descending grades, off road... Minor, and I could live with it if there was no other choice, of course.

The second factor is function... so they put a hood scoop on it, but it doesn't do anything... I mean no air goes into the engine from it... So, it is entirely a lie, and I am all for function not fabrication.

The scoop is also a factor in resistance to air flow, so it makes the truck less aero-dynamic... Not a big deal on a pickup, mind you...

actually, where the scoop is located on the hood air is forced over it, not into it (assuming it were open). even if it were a true scoop it would need to be moved forward and made bigger

Personally, I love the TRD Sport better because it gives you the option for a longer bed which comes in handy for a those who enjoys the outdoors. I do like the hood scoop on the sport package; it makes the truck look better overall. I like the painted side mirrors but would rather prefer the grill and the bumper chrome. As the Toyota E-Locker is not offered in the sport package, you can always add on aftermarket diff locks, which I personally think functions better than the Toyota locker. If you like the sport package but also like to off-road, I would buy a sport short bed for better clearance, add on a bed extender for more room in the bed, and add aftermarket lockers for both front and rears.

So the scoop is just aesthetics, big deal. So's the paint.
