Chiming in with my two cents on why I chose the Sport.

I test drove the Sport and the OR and just liked how the Sport felt to drive on pavement so much more.

Realistically, 90% or more of my driving will be on bare road. The other 10% will be a mix of forest service gravel roads and snow-covered pavement, for which pretty much any Tacoma is going to be such a huge upgrade over my previous car.

I took my Corolla to so many places it shouldn't have been-- sandy unpaved desert backroads, rutted, potholed, poorly maintained forest roads, and it lived full time in the snow during winters to where I felt like I could put chains on with my eyes closed and a hand tied behind my back.

I figure if I can manage not to kill myself or get stuck in that stuff in a Corolla, a TRD Sport Tacoma will be a dream. I have a little "grass-is-greener" buyer's remorse over not having the locker and crawl control, but I try remember that I bought for the kind of driving I already do, not the driving I might conceivably start doing in the future.

Kudo's to you man for checking them both out before making your decision! You assessed your realistic needs, which the Sport can deliver to you in spades! And you just plain liked how the Sport drove (while still checking all your needs boxes). To put it another way, you did the math!

I on the other hand am one of those "the end is getting kinda neigh" guys and thus wanted as much off road function and capabilities as I could get out of the box. Whether all those enhanced functional gizmos (CC, MTS, rear locker) that an OR comes will really amount to a hill of beans when the shit hits the fan is definitely debatable. But again, given my wants and needs in a truck, I want my ride to have as many tricks and gizmos up it's sleeve to get my ass out of the jam my brain just got us all into.

    Bravo Zulu brother!
