Recently picked up a 16 Gray TRD Sport 4x4. I have been semi-pestering the local dealerships around Raleigh trying to get my hands on one to see which one I wanted. Final decision came down to one dealership vs another due to extra incentives/discounts thrown in (one dealer wanted $ over MSRP!) and having a new TRD sport that just came on the lot. Took a test drive and was everything I wanted.

Some initial reports - ~300 miles on the truck now and "out of the box" the blind spot monitoring was broken. Dealer had to order a new mirror assembly so that is pending installation this week. Otherwise everything is good, the tonneau cover (while not expecting to get one) works well and the predator bars were a nice add-on. I've been testing gas mileage and driving probably more aggressive than most was seeing 16-18mpg, today while toning it WAY back I see 20mpg. I know there is a break in and obviously it all depends on many variables. Realistically its a truck and I expected as such so not complaining.

    Enjoying the truck thus far!

(Yes I am a new member here so posting a picture of my truck. If anyone has any questions I'll get back to you and if you want more pictures, just ask!)

Nice Truck. What are your impressions of power/ highway driving? Do you feel it's adequate for passing/ hills?
    Thanks!

Let me start off by saying it has been awhile since I've had a truck so I'm coming off a sporty type car... That said, I think it has plenty of get up and go when needed (passing, off the line, etc.). You'll probably notice a slight slowdown on hills where it will require a bit more push. On the highway I have set it to cruise going ~70 on the highway and it is smooth, fairly quiet (sorry can't compare to the last gen on sound) and had no issue. I don't get the feeling that I'm lacking in power at all though.

Nice truck! My BSM fails when starting the truck about 50% of the time since the second day of ownership. One time it failed on the freeway as someone passed me on the right so I think it is right side sensor or mirror. I have't had a chance to take it in yet, though.

That's exactly the issue! The problem with mine is related to the right sensor which when someone passes on the right, it kicks off but then almost causes a fault bringing up the "Check Blind Spot Monitor System". Left it at the dealership for a day and they opened a case with Toyota coming down to the fix being to replace the whole mirror. I'm bringing mine in Thursday to have it swapped out but if that solves the issue make sure you get it into the shop sooner as they'll have to order the part, causing another trip in/delay...

I'm shopping for a metallic gray TRD Sport, also in the Raleigh area. Which dealership did you go with?

Fred Anderson. They were better to work with and their "Family plan" thrown in was nice. Leith was second but I would stay away from Hendrick.

Nice truck, and congrats, love the gray. Did you put those step bars on yourself? Because I don't see them on the sticker price. And just out of curiosity, do they hit the back of your leg when you get out of the truck? Thanks.

A bit of luck here... I did not put them on and the dealer forgot to include them into the price. After I signed all the papers with the finance guy, the sales guy mentioned they forgot to add the price of it into the vehicle since it just came in the night before and was in a bit of hurry for the high demand. I just chalk it up to getting a better deal on the truck :)

I think they look awesome on the truck but functionality I don't really need it and haven't hit it or at least haven't noticed it being a pain when exiting the vehicle. My wife has used the step and seems to be perfect for her. (Also hasn't mentioned hitting it on exiting)
