I got some TRD off-road wheels to put on my TRD sport for winter. Is the ride height the same as the off-road. Does it matter? I was going to get bfg ko2 265/70r16 or comparable.
    Thx

If your sport tires are still stock size, those tires you chose for the 16s will be the same outer diameter, which means they won't affect ride height.

Right. 265. The next number represents aspect ratio% that’s why the number is higher with the smaller rim. Unless I’m wrong isn’t there a 265/70 and a 265/75r16? Is that just a wider tire with same diameter? Does that mean anything above a 265 diameter will Rub?

265mm is the width, not the diameter.

    75 is taller(greater diameter) than 70.

265/75-16 will fit without a lift.

I think you meant 265mm width not diameter. In any case, I don’t think there are wider options than 265mm in the same diameter. There are a ton of threads on here about tire and wheel fitment. Try searching with your favorite search engine. The general consensus is that the tallest tire you can run without modifying your truck is 255/85r16 (or r17 equivalent). I’ve never really researched it, but I suspect that the widest is 265/70r16 or 265/75r16.

I don’t entirely understand your question, but I can tell you that all of the 3rd gen stock tires are the same diameter. The TRD off-road and pro A/T tires are 20mm wider. All are interchangeable on stock Tacoma’s.

Just being pedantic, but the Sport and Limited came with 265mm wide tires also.

Like you said though, SR through Pro are all the same tire diameter. We all have the same ride height also, except for the 1in greater front lift on the Pros.

I think I misunderstood your question the first time. Your use of the term "ride height" confused me because it seems irrelevant. If you are asking if 265/70r16 tires with the TRD off-road 16" wheels will work on your Sport, the answer is yes; albeit I have never done that myself. I have a set of 16" TRD off-road wheels and a set of TRD Pro wheels for my 2020 TRD off-road. I believe the Pro wheels have a slightly different offset but are otherwise compatible.

EDIT: have you considered a dedicated winter tire instead of an all-terrain? That's the way I would go for a summer/winter on-road set up. I currently have an off-road/on-road set up, so I will likely be running the stock all-terrains this winter.

By ride height I meant distance from hub to fender when suspension is loaded. I was thinking there was some extra room in there which explains why the 75 fits. You answered the question I just understood the tire markings incorrectly. Yes I plan to put 265/75r16 tire on those OR wheels for winter use. The reason I wanted to get something like a ko2 was for durability I live in Denver and I think I would melt off a nice blizzak snow tire on warm dry pavement. We have days like that throughout winter out here. Totally open to suggestions. I just don’t want to slip my way through winter again on these open country tires. Thx

I can’t comment on ko2’s, but I can say that the stock A/Ts on the TRD OR beat the heck out of the stock A/Ss on the SR5 when the road is covered in snow.

FYI: IFS ride height isn’t, in general, a factor when fitting tires because the wheel has to move through the same range of motion. You are only changing the starting point. But in any case, AFAIK the ride height is the same on all stock 3rd gen trucks with the exception of the TRD Pro.

265/70R17s and 265/75R16s will fit without rubbing. There are also 255/80R16s (pizza cutters / need confirmation as that might be 255/80R17?) also. That's a full 33in.

It isn't the hub to fender that matters. It hub to the rear side of the wheel well. Larger tires will rub the plastic liner, body pinch weld, or cab mount at certain steering angles and suspension movement.

I had the same experience also. The Stock Toyos sucked in the wet and did okay everywhere else, including offroad aired down. The ATs that I have now are better in every category, including hooning in the wet or dry. Doesn't make sense, but I'll take it and the better treadwear to boot. :D

Toyos? My 2016 SR5 came with firestone destination all-season and my 2020 OR came with Goodyear wrangler adventure all-terrain.

Sports come with Toyo A30s and some SRs / SR5s came with Toyo A31s? I think they mixed the SR and SR5 between the two tires. The weird part is that I have a Firestone Destination spare. I'll probably mount up one of my worn Wildpeaks when I swap those out.

All agreed until you try to fit 35+ and run out of head room too. :)

So true. I don't think I could cut sheet metal myself. But then, I am very happy with what these 32s do.
