    Driving through OK this morning. Passing power is stunning. Gas mileage not so much. Hopefully that gets better as the computer learns.

    It takes a couple hundred miles/couple of weeks. Gas is better if you can set it and go easy. Stop an go traffic, not so much.

    The torque clearly changed. I was running 75-80 and Ultragauge was saying around 13. I clearly used a bunch more gas than last trip. Toyota says it should get better as the computer adjusts.

    I think once the Taco is paid off.. for my DD I'm thinking a nice comfortable Tundra.

    I hate to say it but IMHO unless you're looking at keeping the truck for 10 years and need something fairly bullet proof the Tundra isn't a great buy. Around here you pay a 6-9K premium for an out of date power train and a truck that really fails to impress compared to the competition. Every guy I know that has one fails to come up with a reason they have it other than "it's a Toyota".

    An Ecoboost F150, which we have quite a few of at work, will get better MPG's than a Tundra and has a far better torque curve for acceleration/towing. We haven't had many issues with our F150's and those we've had have been handled extremely well by the local dealer.

    On a side note, up here in Canada they stopped selling the S/C kit for the Tundra because it was blowing up transmissions left and right.

    And I wouldn't get a Tundra because the 5.7L under performs for it's displacement and gets 12-13 mpg in most real life tests. That's 20 percent lower than the real life testing of the F150, Ram 1500, and the GM twins. The Tundra is WAY over priced and only a hardcore fanboy would see any value in it for what they make you to pay for a relic.

    That's all my opinion of course. I can see the trade in value argument but I still believe you should drive what fits best. We haul tons of product around with our F150's and still get 12 mpg at worst, which is the normal mileage for a Tundra lol.

    No worries, I was just saying man. I didn't mean it as an insult. I'm definitely biased to Ford since they've really been the best trucks for us at work and most old field guys run them too, even the ones who have had a Tundra or two. What kind of power are guys getting off the 6.2L Ford motor with the blower on it? I've seen a Raptor with aftermarket blower but I've never drove one. I've also seen a 5.0L XLT Rousched before but I have no idea how that would hold up or if you could get it in an FX4 package.

    Yeah, the Tundra interior is pretty slick. I'm just a bit PO'd at how they literally dressed up the same full sized truck they've had out for over half a decade and tried to advertise it as a totally new truck. 12-13 mpg is totally unacceptable for a full sized truck. I'm really hoping they ditch the 5.7L as the go to engine when they stick the Cummins in the Tundra. If they keep pricing around the same then it might be worth the money IMHO.

    Anyways we are a bit off track lol. Does anyone know if I should be taking any extra precautions other than babying the motor till it's nice and warm when operating the blower in single digit F temperatures?

    Yeah, I take it easy until the engine water temperatures to at least 150F. I had a fuel issue a few months ago that caused my engine to misfire occasionally when it was cold at any RPM. Scared the piss outta me, I thought my truck was toast. It turned out to be a bad batch of fuel at my local fueling station :rolleyes:.

    I also still get something I perceive as a fuel supply issue when I mash my pedal and it's a bit cold out, even when the engines warm. It seems like the engine misses a step and the A/F ratio shoots way low for a moment. I'm upgrading my fuel pump and I'm hopeful but not sold that the upgrade will fix it.

    I would of posted on my thread about those issues but unfortunately some S/C mustang guy wouldn't stop flinging shite on my thread so I had it locked :mad: .

    true.. the Ecoboosts are very tempting.. test drove one and fell in love.. that would be my other choice.. but.. like you said.. "its a toyota".. i love toyota and love the tundras.. but you are right about the powertrain.

    its either a new DD.. preferably something I can tow with to pull the Taco if it ever goes down.. or.. keep the taco as is for a great weekend warrior rig.. and get a Rzr.. which im leaning towards the latter.

    but.. I also want something fun.. like a car.. but.. thats also what the Wife is for.. get her into something.. :D

    Road trip update. I drove from north Dallas to OKC and back today. While I was educated to the fact that the computer would need to adjust I was not mentally prepared to use 3/4 of a tank on the way up. Only used 1/2 on the way back. Ultragauge said 12-ish on the way up and 17-ish on the way back. Some adjusting... So, expect that all you future chargers. BTW, passing is so much fun! I did have the cruise set most of the time and ran 75-80. Some traffic on either end in the city. On ramps are now an excuse to floor it.

    I agree. One of the easiest blower to install. Low maintenance, good platform for more boost, approved by Toyota, and it's smog legal. What not to like :thumbsup:

    OK maybe the price... but remember horsepower cost money :thumbsup:
