Sigh. Magnuson has the rights to make the TRD Superchargers now, just minus the TRD mark, since they were the original Manufacturers.

LC Engineering who posted the return said they were working on the smog certification. It is the same SC minus the logo so I'd imagine no problem in getting it certified other than time, money and bureaucracy.

Turbos win every time. Vastly more power potential and less heat issues HP for HP, not to mention better mileage if you back off. Turbos are back and bigger than ever at the moment, so now would be a brilliant time for Toyota to add twin turbos to the 2016 Tacoma for an extra 100 HP and TQ. Plus, they even sound cooler. Once you've experienced a turbo with open wastegate, everything else seems tame. :D

It's the perfect time yes, but Toyota has proven us time and time again they aren't that bright. Why do something that makes complete sense and give people exactly what they want, which also happens to be the best, most logical option when you can give them some bs engine from a rav 4 and they'll buy it anyways. Because toyota bro!

Open wastegate sounds like ass. I ran one for years when I was younger. It makes it a pain in the ass to even play with the car. People can hear you coming form a mile away.

Possibly referring to "Open" as in a turbo engine at full boost open?

I'll look forward to the supercharger. I like turbos for street driving, but not off-road. Turbo diesels are great, but they already have the torque.

At 5000ft+ altitude, even the best twin/quad turbo setup still has lag followed by punch - SC has the boost right off idle and can have much smoother torque curves (ie more driveable, vs binary street fun)

Did you have the ECU re-flashed to the supercharger calibration?

I did the same on my DA9 :D I ran a external wastegate and instead of rerouting it back into the exhaust piping I just dumped it to the atmosphere :D

Nothing like stomping on the throttle in front a Prius and seeing that black cloud in the review mirror  A ricer rolling coal :D
