LOL typical BS from Toyota. I take it URD is probably reverse engineering it then? I figure if the Chinese gov't can reverse engineer our stealth fighters I figure most aftermarket companies can do the same. I know comparing apples to oranges here :D

The guy I talked to said that apparently TRD is loosing money to URD and and decided to stop releasing the info URD needed to keep making superchargers for the later model trucks. He said that they must be doing something right if one little company is on TRD's radar in that big of a way.

Apparently the exact same harness that is required for a unichip setup will work with the E-CON system that URD uses. I just wouldn't want to be the first guy to test that statement.

The URD and TRD setups are for two different applications IMHO. The TRD is great for offroad trucks and keeps your warranty. The URD is for trucks that want the best numbers but don't give a rats ass about warranty. Either way, boost is sweet. I love my blower :D. I'd still like to get the URD engine management one day. I think there's a lot of room for tuning the TRD chargers too.

Btw, for any fellow Canadians, Cochrane Toyota will sell and install one for $6200 CAD. That's a screaming deal for a SC from a dealership and then you don't have to worry about bringing one out of the states yourself and how that effects your warranty (chain of ownership, etc.)

Ive heard all kinds of fairy tales come out of that office.

grain o salt man, grain o salt.

U think toyota is really losing that much money to a system with known hiccups (uconn), and the inability to check ur oil level?

thats like saying china is going broke from the US making better noodles

Eaton has been around for many years

as for TRD being for offroad trucks..............................

You must be doing something wrong because I know many V8 sports cars who can say otherwise.

I've never heard anyone who owned a TRD supercharged Tacoma complain about the sound. Haters gonna hate.

Dude, I was talking about the TRD supercharger for our tacoma's being a good fit for off-road vehicles that want a little extra power when climbing or bringing along extra gear.

If you want to get into which blower is better for V8 sports cars you're trolling the wrong forum.

Just like everyone else's "performance devision" TRD is just an acronym to sell profit making options to consumers. Some are worth it, others are not.

On my previous SC'ed 2005 and 2011 i gained MPG on the freeway because it was more efficent and didnt take as much power to go 70+ mph so that was about 2 or 3 mpg gained on freeway but in city it stayed the same or a loss of a mile or so with stop and go driving

Different stroke sfor different folks. Personally, I can't justify the S/C or additional mods to myself based on how much faster I can reach the speed limiter on my Tacoma. I have seen some pretty sick fast Tacoma's on here though and I wouldn't knock a guy for going that route if it floats his boat.

I've read a few posts complaining about the sound. Is there anything different about it on the Tacoma?

    I haven't heard a supercharger I didn't like yet.

It's a Roots type supercharger. It whines like a SOB at high RPM's. I personally love the sound, though grandma may not lol.
