Well i opened my hood the other day to show my buddy MY trd supercharger and i noticed the belt with starting to crack all over on the inside rib part . Now i only have not even 3000 miles on it since the dealer installed it . Its an 09. Looks like im going to have to take it in . They better replace it . Im going on a trip next month and dont need no problems . Anyone else have this happen ?

Sounds like its being over stretched.

Also sounds like you need a light weight pulley :)

Sorry can't help you the supercharger only exits in my dreams, if the belt on that one wore down......I would have serious problems.

I had an aftermarket S/C installed on my last car and this happens. Just get a gates belt and install it yourself. It's easy to do and probably should be done every 10K miles or so just to be safe.

I just had a thread up about it a couple weeks ago. I had my oem belt on for like 14k and it looked like it was ready to disintigrate . I replaced it with a gates belt ( looks 20x tougher ) we'll see how long it lasts. I think the oem belt is bad for us guys in the cold areas because the belt gets hot if we run it and than after shutdown its suddenly extremely cold like in chicago weather and the constant hot & cold cycles cause it to dry up and crack

Hey Monte, Did you get your supercharger installed before or after the trans shifting tsb ??

I went thru two belts in about 10K on my Dakota (in college-long ago) before I found Gates belts. The Gates lasted another 18K till I sold the truck.

I have the same setup and the belt failed at 3k miles- it was due to a misalignment and one of the ribs was off-

Be sure the pulleys are square

    the list is growing
I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and we use gates belts at my work... I have seen them outlast many other brands of belts on various machines.

My OEM S/C belt showed cracks at 4,000 miles (5 months). So I ordered a spare from the dealer. The new OEM belt is now a Gates. I've put 11,000 more miles on the OEM and it looks just the same as it did at 4,000 miles.
I am going to change it before summer.
