I spoke to TRD, 1 800-688-5912. They think mods are fun too.
They have a K&N type air filter for the super charger. The exhoust manifold is fine. Do not waste money on headers. Or porting and polishibg, The K&N oil filter is a good idea. Part # H1002. I am going to make the Taco the best it can be.
Despite the fact that Toyota is not making money they advised synthect oil.
I am impressed by the service.

Why would you think headers are a waste?

Thats because TRD doesn't want people to mod things like that and have their AFR lean out and make the engine go boom :)

I am checking with TRD 1-800-688-5912 and my dealer`s svc. mgr.
They are going to do the work.
We are not going to screw this up.
If it does Kboom. It is under warranty.
I have blown motors and other drive line parts before.

I have TRD S/C on modified 4.0L with TRD CAI. Works great! Just to let you know URD has come out with smaller pulley for TRD S/C and claim it adds 1.5 to 2 more lbs of boost. Probably right..........I took a pulley from another brand and modified it............about the same size as the URD. Works! Check into the URD pulley.

So you have the TRD SC with a URD pulley?

No.......I took a pulley from a Whipple and modified it to fit. It gives a little more than 2 additional lbs of boost. It's black and ugly because of constant mill work, but functions great. I did order the URD pulley to try it out.

Why not put a 150 shot on your truck. NOS is a whole lot cheaper. Superchargers are cool but 4 grand for 70hp. that sucks! Has anybody put a different pulley on their's to get some more boost. I know these motors can handle it.

NOS is cheaper to install but then there's the little details of locating the bottle, running plumbing and wiring, having to pay for the NOS and the power is only available in bursts. The supercharger gives you increased available power 100% of the time, adds to the resale value of the truck and is covered under the trucks warantee. The only place I would consider NOS a reasonable option is the strip.

LOL... but 4 grand for 70hp... come on that sucks no matter if you have it all the time or not.. With NOS you can keep your precious gas mileage and pull up beside one of these guys at a red light with a supercharge and smoke em. make em scratch there head... the supercharger just needs more boost then it would be worth the money...

Thanks. You've made my argument for me. NOS for the strip. SC for the road, or off road, or towing.... :D

Fuel economy with or without the go fast parts is controlled directly by the distance between right foot and the floor. :p
