I have seen an increase in my milage SOMETIMES. It all depends on how I drive. Generally the milage has stayed about the same though.

Go with a turbo and you will see better mpg as long as you stay outta boost as much as possible. The more boost=worst mpg

If I had to make an educated guess I'd say my increase in MPG's has a lot to do with my elevation also, I live at 1100 feet.

Not quite as the blower will build boost at pretty low rpms and throttle, with turbo you can shift in lag before boost even thinks about building

A proper bypass valve prevents any and all unwanted boost from building pressure

No, you would have to be really into it to build boost in low RPM's.
I monitor my vacuum/boost and the only time I switch over to boost is if I am really getting into it. But if you floor if from every light, you would be correct.

A local member was running a supercharger (I think the TRD) and was pulling 22 - 23 MPG on the highway. His truck had a 3" lift and 33's, stock gears. He did say he had to be careful with the skinny pedel though because 22 could turn into 12 very quickly. We're at a fairly low elevation.

Yea I agree. I also agree with the elevation part too. I myself am at sea level. And I would be getting it for WAY less than $3500 :) I wouldnt be getting it for MPG I am just trying to factor in everything before I make a decision. I would be getting it for more the increase in hp and tq. I do tow hear and there and also its just nice to have something that can haul the mail! I was just looking at all pros/cons.

It seems like in the overall, you get about the same. But some people loose more cause its just to much fun to play around with. And some people gain more cause they drive like grandmas ;)

Think about it for a minute. A SC forces more air in your engine which requires more fuel. Do you really think for a minute you can keep your foot out of it and have better fuel economy than stock? Ain't gonna happen. If anyone says it does they are lieing.

It's no where near that simple and yes, you can get better MPG than stock with a supercharger. That kind of over simplistic logic doesn't apply and is not accurate.

    Overall my mileage hasn't changed.
I am doing lower RPMs on hills, and it rarely shifts
    down to 4th.
At the most I am in boost conditions for a couple seconds
during a drive. When pulling the boat trailer that is a different
story. Drinks the gas but good power.

As everyone else has mentioned, totally depends how you
drive. It is very easy to get horrible mileage if you like speed.

You don't have one so you wouldn't know....like I said it makes the engine more efficient if you stay out of boost...nuff said or you can go out and buy one and see for yourself :)

If you putted around like a Grandpa you probably would see a slight increase in MPG- But who buys a SC to drive like a Grandpa and putt around?

Also consider this... stock engine tuned for regular. S/C tuned for and requires premium. So yes it will not only get better gas milage under 2000 rpm, but enough to counter parasitic drag and gain 1 mpg. However more power = more fuel and ecomony drops. The extra cost of premium eats up the 1 mpg gain. Inevitably you end up losing about 1 mpg and having to use premium fuel.

I've never seen anywhere near 20 mpg even stock. Best I got stock was 16-17,now with the SC (which is awesome by the way) if I drive like grandpa I get like 15 with mixed driving which is incredibly boring...If I drive how I want to I get 12-13; I never bought the SC expecting to gain mpg, I bought it expecting to have fun :) FWIW, I have 275/70/17 BFG TA KO's and a 3" lift.

Expect to lose mpg for sure

My MPGs did not change after the SC was installed.

MPGs are affected by how heavy your right foot is. I experimented a bit and got higher MPG if i did not cross 2500 RPM. I don't have the exact figures on me right now, but It was a lot more the typical everyday use of the heavy foot.

Although.... the S\C is fun to use :D

Obviously when you think about air/fuel ratios, one might think the result of adding more air to the combustion chamber means adding more fuel, and thus, worse MPGs. Yes more air means more fuel. That's why cold weather MPGs suck. The air is more dense and your engine is using more fuel to keep the ratio even.

But boost can absolutely increase MPGs. Especially a turbo. A supercharger has the draw back of adding more work to the engine before it gives it more power. But for some comparison, a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (supercharged 3.8 liter V6) can AVERAGE 30 mpg and have as much as 260hp and 260lb./ft. when WOT. A 2008 Saturn Sky redline (turbocharged 2.0 liter 4 cyl.) Can Average 32 mpg and have as much as 290hp and 340 lb./ft..

Its all about how one drives. Adding boost will make MPG exponentially worse when you put your foot down hard. But under normal, casual drivng, MPGs can increase because the engine isn't having to work so hard. Hell the 2013 Mustang GT500 gets mid 20s on the highway WITH 662 HP!

no there is a fuel air ratio that your truck allways tries to keep the same for proper combustion I cant remember the exact ratio right now but with a supercharger you are increasing the air ratio so in order to keep the ratio correct it has to feed more fuel, it is basic gas or diesel engine dynamics for proper combustion. but it is not a whole lot, you may suffer more from having to use high octane fuel to prevent engine knock or ping. so in stupid terms more air means more fuel. but if your a lover of horses I think its good .
