TRD Supercharger program discontinued

So this just came out.. (see attached)

Sad day. Very sad day. For all of those that have been on the fence or saving for one ..now's the time to buy!

 

Been wanting one for a few yrs now(although still can't afford it)and have heard its not worth the investment.

 

Good thing I've got one sitting in my garage waiting to install!

Hmmmmm maybe I should sit on this brand new one for a year or two and then sell it for mondo bucks and just get A URD lol

I wanted ....one for 5.7 iForce. ..... they discontinuing 4.0 and 5.7 superchargers too. I dont f care about minivan engine but V8 ... WTH Toyota...

 

My dream build for my truck always had one, hope when I finally can afford it its not too expensive.

If I had $7500 my truck would still not be sitting stock height with stock wheels.

 

Can someone with F/I experience tell me how URD compares to TRD? I'm out of warranty anyway. Always wanted one but not anytime soon... I was really hoping in a few years I could buy a 2016 and S/C it.

I was, but still have Toyota Warranty on 5.7 truck (until the end of next year).... so was not in big rush.

As opposed to the TRD being low to mid? Does low to mid matter when the S/C is only engaged in WOT?

 

TRD SC is pretty much across the band, over 2K rpms you're in boost. URD just puts out higher boost and higher HP at higher RPMS. URD was designed to make you go fast, TRD was designed to give you "more power for towing"

My TRD S/C pulls hard down low. Noticeably better than stock.

Really? I thought I've heard people say that it wouldn't really help with towing. So if you towed, and put in 4th, you would be in boost your whole trip (Whining)?

If it's always driven doesn't that mean you will have a more powerful engine all the time? Accelerating, cruising, etc? Also, if it's partially closed to help the engine with low end power why would city MPG suffer? Using more gas to make more power? I've briefly looked at URD before. When I see 5 different kits for a supercharger I stop looking at it considering I'm not buying soon.
